Program Information:
The responsibility for key HIT and HIE activities within the District of Columbia is under the governance of the DC Department of Health Care Finance (DHCF). To develop a Medicaid Patient Data Hub to support electronic health record (EHR) technology and health information exchange for Medicaid enrollees the DHCF was awarded a Medicaid Transformation Grant. On behalf of the District of Columbia, the DHCF has also received a HIE Planning Cooperative Agreement to develop HIE in the District. This will be done in association with partners in the public and private sectors. As the single state agency responsible for the administration of the Medicaid program for the District, DHCF has also received funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The agency will also have to develop a Statewide Medicaid HIT Plan (SMHP) to administer the federally sponsored incentive program. This will also foster the adoption of EHRs by eligible providers and eligible hospitals.
