Program Information:
Georgia Medicaid is participating in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) EHR Incentive Program. Incentive payments to Eligible Professionals and Eligible Hospitals will be provided through this program. This will extend even to critical access hospitals (CAHs) and children’s hospitals as they adopt, implement, upgrade and demonstrate meaningful use of certified EHR technology. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) support this program as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Georgia has submitted its State Medicaid Health Information Technology Plan (SMHP) to CMS. This plan must be approved before implementing the program. Georgia Medicaid will be positioned to accept applications and make payments to Eligible Professionals and Eligible Hospitals as soon as the program is approved.
