Program Information:
Within the Oregon Health Authority, the Medicaid HIT Project has been assigned with implementing and running Oregon’s Medicaid Electronic Health Records Incentive Program for eligible Oregon providers. In order to improve the quality of care provided to patients, Electronic health records must be implemented in Oregon. This will be done by providing access to patients’ treatment and medication histories and reducing harmful negative drug or treatment interactions. Electronic health records will also help reduce unnecessary, invasive, or redundant tests, increasing patients’ comfort and will therefore reduce healthcare costs. Offering incentives to healthcare providers is an essential step in developing the providers’ ability to electronically exchange health information, which is a crucial part of Oregon’s Action Plan for Health.
