He sustained apparent gunshot wounds to his leg shortly before 10pm last night at Darndale Park.

No arrests have yet been made and investigations are ongoing with anyone who has information relating to the incident asked to contact Gardaí.

Protests are expected today when the head of Scientology visits Dublin to open a new centre in Firhouse.

Concerns have been raised locally, amid reports that the centre could become Scientology’s European HQ post-Brexit.

The centre, the purpose of which is not yet known, will include a conference centre with capacity for a thousand people despite Census figure showing just 87 Scientologists in Ireland.
