October is packed with breast cancer awareness events, most of them raising money for the cause, and support group meetings.

Friday, Oct. 6

11th Go Pink! Health Fair at Bayhealth Cancer Institute. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. 540 S. Queen St., Free clinical breast exams, cancer screenings and treatment and survivorship programs .Proceeds benefit screenings and education programs available through the institute and the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition. Saturday, Oct. 7

Dewey Goes Pink. 111 a.m. race. 7th annual 5K sponsored by Starboard owner Steve Montgomery and friend Adam Howard, whose mothers were diagnosed with breast cancer at the same time. Runners wear all kinds of fun pink outfits and costumes. $40. Details at deweygoespink.com

Wednesday, Oct. 11

A Breast Cancer Conversation. 6-7:30 p.m. St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 115 Cleaver Farm Road, Middletown. Frogram for people diagnosed with breast cancer who are undergoing or have completed treatment. Also Oct. 12, Nov. 9, and Dec. 14. Call Lois Wilkinson at (302) 672-6435 to register.

My Sister’s Keeper: A Free Program For Breast Cancer Survivors of Color. 5-6:30 p.m. Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition Dover Office, 165 Commerce Way, Suite 2. Twin sisters and breast cancer survivors Natasha Simms and Lynette Shannon will host a support group for women of color. Oct. 12

“Beginning Your Journey” Program. 5-6:30 p.m. Bayhealth Cancer Center at Milford, 21 West Clarke Ave. For patients who have been newly diagnosed with breast cancer, with focus on nutrition during treatment, financial issues, diagnosis and treatment, available support programs and other available resources. Oct. 13

Breast Cancer Survivor Pink Tea. 1-3 p.m. Seaford Library, 600 N. Market St., Seaford. Breast cancer survivors are invited to attend celebration sponsored by the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition,Cancer Support Community Delaware, American Cancer Society, and Nanticoke Health Services. Oct. 14

Plantation Lakes Fundraiser and Bake Sale. 8 a.m.- Noon. Plantation Lakes Community Center, 29787 Plantation Lakes Blvd., Millsboro.
