HealthInfoNet is Maine’s Regional Extension Center and was created under the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act’s Health Information Technology Extension Program. This Regional Extension Center helps physicians in Maine with the adoption of health information technology (HIT). It’s specific purpose is to create meaningful use of electronic health record (EHR) systems for physicians to improve their quality of care
There are many EHR vendors and various types of EHR software available to physicians, so choosing the best suited EHR software is a daunting task for physicians. The Maine Regional Extension Center HealthInfoNet can play an important role in guiding physicians through the selection process, as well as the EHR software implementation process, to obtain better use of health information technology. This Regional Extension Center also has a long-term goal of supporting the Health Information Exchanges development.
