feedback about Mercy St Francis Hospital
The staff in the emergency room are rude and disrespectful. They treat you like a room number as opposed to a person. The person when you first come in is always rude. This emergency room is a joke.
If you do not want to have a negative experience including the arrogance & lack of compassion from most of the E.R's staff then I would certainly suggest either going to OMC in West Plains or even better to Mercy in Spfld, if you are able to get there. I've heard that OMC has their own issues but that it's nothing like that of this place.
A very select few of the nurses & techs here are great but there's only 1 doctor that I would highly recommend & that is Dr. Broughton. Most of the other medical practitioners here don't seem to care enough to take the time to listen to all of your concerns before they falsely diagnose you with something off the wall & prescribe you un-needed medications for something you don't even have. Thank God they got rid of Dr. Craps-a-ton as he had to be one of the worst Dr's in this hospital's history.
Also, before they put the glass enclosure around the nurses station you could hear the staff speaking negligently about other patients' private information & even gossiping about certain individuals with whom they've had/have a personal issue with.
They must be trying to improve though, as they don't appear to have the same Dr's, nurses, & staff as they did in recent years but I would still recommend going on to Mercy in Springfield.
They are a very skilled facility & are even recognized as having one of the top 5 Cardiology teams in the whole country, among many other benefits.
The difference in compassion & the quality of care you'll receive are like night & day compared to this place. I'm still surprised that Mercy continues to allow their name to be associated with such a negative atmosphere & experience as that of Mercy St. Francis.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. A staff even offered water to my dog! Compassionate medical personnel in emergency room
They are more of a temp facility to prep you for transport to a real hospital. If you do end up there it is near impossible to call to check on a relative. Lots of times they dont seem to answer the phone, if and when they do answer its a gamble as to if they can figure out how to transfer your call and an even bigger gamble who you end up getting if they do manage to transfer your call. My experience has been the first day I spent 23 minutes of being transfered over and over and over and still not getting through but back to the main operator. Later that day took 10 minutes of calling over and over until somebody picked up the main line. 2nd day answered after 3 minutes of calling main line, transfered twice to the wrong rooms but finally got me there. 3rd day, I have been calling the main line number over and over for 30 minutes, it just rings until it times out.
