My experience in the ER and then Inpatient was great, I feel the staff was very attentive and compassionate. This was much better tan my other hospital ER experiences at a "newer" hospital. Its a shame the majority of the feedback on this site is negative. I guess satisfied people dont bother to follow up.

I delivered my daughter here last year in August. I was turned off by the bad reviews and planned to go to Silver Cross. But in an unexpected turn of events I got up in the middle of the the night and my contractions were so close I had to get to a hospital closer to home, I went to Saint Joe’s. Let me tell you from beginning to end I was treated so well!!! It was a very good experience for me. So I had to come back and leave a review in hopes that someone else just like I did will not judge on the so many bad reviews, because there are not enough good ones.

My 97 yo dad was admitted to the ER. He has been here 14 days now and all the staff have been very caring and professional. I can't say enough about his care and people taking care of him. 5 stars for sure!!

I’ve been an inpatient twice in the past two years and have gone through the emergency room four times. When I went to the emergency room, I was told where the line was but I explained my previous medical history and was taken in immediately or within ten minutes. I have always been treated well by the nurses and staff. I have visited the medical records department twice and they were amazing. I’ve been through cardiac rehab and that staff were supportive and amazingly kind. I’ve gone through imaging multiple times and they have been efficient and explained everything well. The phlebotomists were top notch as I am a very hard stick but I’d never know it with them. My only problem is with billing. After a stay in January 2018, I paid my bill in its entirety in April 2018 at a 10% discount. Now, in October 2019, I have a bill for that discounted 10%. Also, my previously in network insurance company that I’ve used multiple times before is out of network. I know they usually run insurance to make sure it’s valid but no one ever notified me of the change. I get that it’s my responsibility to check beforehand but a hospital not having a contract with Aetna? Which was valid last year? I don’t get it. I’ve appealed to my insurance company, but besides health being the first priority, paying for it is the second priority.

I work at a nearby hotel and one of our guests was brought there by ambulance. He was treated and released, but had nothing with him (no phone, money or shoes) he asked if they could call a cab for him or anything and they said they were not responsible for transportation. Instead they printed him a map (hotel is about a mile from the hospital) and told him to walk. He told them he had no shoes and the nurse gave him a pair of those hospital socks and sent him on his way. It was raining and cold and this man did not know his way around the area. He got turned around and was trying to get drivers passing by to help him. Finally an off duty Lyft driver picked him up and brought him back to the hotel. This is not the best area and it was night time. Shame on you St. Joe's! All you had to do was call the hotel and we would have come to get him. Despicable...
