Normally we get great service with my husband whom is a heart patient. Tonight not so much. Dr said they would be drawing blood 3 hrs from when they drew the last blood....would check on time and let us know. Well they didn't and now after having to ask nurse...said it would be another 15 mins which is 3 and a half hours after first draw of blood. Not very happy with my beloved st. John's right now.

Great few staff members just horrible waiting time in room. Happy with service given to my daughter though....

Our grandson was brought in through the er. He had a hole in his tongue and the bleeding wouldn't stop. His parents live in Independence and the doctor there set up everything. They were met at the er, taken to the pediatric wing. There they prepped him and put in stitches in his tongue in the same room where he spent the night. When we arrived everyone was so nice and very helpful, doctors, nurses and staff. My husband and I appreciate how everyone took time to answer all of our questions. This experience was good!

2 star rating is for St. John hospital on Utica. I have been to other St. John clinics and offices and they have all been fast/efficient, clean, and nice. This hospital is the opposite of that. I have been to this hospital for years and it is ALWAYS FILTHY. A family member had a baby here in 2012-hospital was filthy. Another family member had a baby here in 2016-filthy. One of the restrooms had toilet paper all over the floor and the bowl of the toilet was covered in #2. A janitor put a sign up that she was cleaning it, I went to use it after it was done being cleaned (I wasn't going to use it before hand), all the janitor did was sweep up the toilet paper on the floor- everything else was exactly the same. I had a baby here in 2017- my room was swept one time during my 4 visit stay. Walking on the floor barefoot of my room your feet would be filthy. I requested my bathroom be cleaned the 1st night I was there because the toilet was dirty (it had a sticker or tape that had dirt and hair stuck to it). A janitor came in to clean it and left the toilet exactly the same-dirty. Another family member had a surgery in 2018 and the waiting room was filthy-trash and dirty shoe prints everywhere. Janitors came in to clean it and all they did was dry sweep some areas. Still had tons of trash and shoe prints everywhere and they said it was clean. The ER is the worst- waiting room is filthier than the rest of the hospital and the wait time is insanely long. I waited 2-3 hours to get called back, then another hour to even be seen. The janitors need to be fired and replaced by people who actually know how to clean or they need to be taught/trained how to properly clean and sanitize a medical facility. There are also signs posted everywhere around the hospital "no smoking on property" but every time I have gone here there are so many cigarette butts everywhere. Patients and staff (nurses) smoke all over the property. I am allergic to cigarettes and people who don't smoke shouldn't have to be worried about getting second hand smoke or an allergic reaction going to a hospital. Only reason I have 2 stars is because the doctors and most nursing staff I have had and family members have had are all excellent. It is the only reason we go to this hospital is for our doctors. Very disappointed and disgusted by the cleaning staff.
