The Tomah VA certainly DOES NOT "Define Excellence". Not by a long shot.!! It is supposed to be a "Flagship" campus. Maybe the Flagship Titanic! There are a few very fine people there but not enough that follow through what they say and clearly follow through, for me, has been lacking. This hema-Toma(h) VA definitely needs some healing!! Even the Patient Advocate that I worked with was lacking!! If your needs are not being met reach out to your senator, the Inspector General and whoever else that will hear and help you. YOUR ARE WORTH IT VETERAN! NEVER EVER FORGET THAT!!!

Always fast service at the urgent Care and the employees are fantastic! This VA Medical Center is a gem of hospitals. I recommend all veterans to go to here for your medical needs!

I have going to the Tomah, WI VA since 2/14/96 & nothing but problems. All they want to do is screw with Veterans, screw them up on prescription drugs to get them thrown in jail to screw them over in court! I was hit in the right temple with a pickup door in October 2017 & ended up with a huge floater in my right eye & nothing has been done about it. It can be fixed with laser right in the office, but the Tomah VA refuses to do anything & nothing but a big jerk-around & transferred or referrals to a Psychiatrist! The staff here definitely have a bucketful of screws loose & need Psychiatric examination, too! Complain to the Patient Reps 10 times a day & all they do is chit-chat! I have left numerous messages with State Rep, Ron Kinds office in Eau Claire for a year & still no response. The Tomah VA Director was fired several years ago for over-medication practices. in other words, drugging them up! Some even died & a few while inpatient! I definitely believe everyone that works at the Tomah VA needs Psychiatric examination & court ordered treatment! Or be fired!

They do a great job putting veterans first!

Worst experience of my life. I was in the psych ward for PTSD and psychosis. Completely unaware of my actions and statements for probably a month at least. I read over my medical records from there and I saw I became worse shortly after being there. My records show I became more agitated and aggressive before I eventually recovered enough to be released. I was clearly pyscotic and anyone who thinks otherwise can read through my 500 plus pages of medical records/notes. The nurses and one of my psychiatrists had the audacity to say I had intentions to hurt staff and that my behavior wasnt due to my mental illnesses. My therapist outside of Tomah even said that they mis diagnosed me with bi polar instead of PTSD. So they were most likely treating me with the wrong medications on top of everything else. I am now being pressed with charges a year and a half later for things I had no intention or control over. I wasnt even aware I hurt anyone until I received summons a year and a half later. The staff needs more training and better treatment plans for people in similar situations. For staff to say someone intentionally did something when they were clearly psychotic is alarming to me. I think 403a needs to be investigated more closely and could use better training and strategies for people with similar mental illness. While I was In treatment The staff called my mom and told her I might need a caregiver the rest of my life and still claimed in statements to the tomah va police that all of this was not due to my mental illness. It makes no sense. So be cautious of the tomah va because you end up going there for help and end up with felony charges a year and a half later.
