feedback about Wilkes Barre Va Medical Center
Mixed bag with doctors. Some are great. Others are absolutely nightmare level terrible. The staff are nice. Not enough specialist doctors so get ready to deal with the Veteran's Choice Program run around. Forget about finding a parking spot. The parking here is a total sh*tshow. Be prepared to show up a good hour or so before your appointment because you'll be driving in circles for 40 minutes waiting for someone to finally leave. This place is always packed to the max. The new renovations are nice. The new ER is usually never busy. The entire facility is a cell phone dead zone and the wifi is terrible.
Spent a year there and was very well taken care of!
As far as va hospitals go this one isn't bad
I used to like the Wilkes Barre VA a lot, when they used to hire people from our area, but that has changed. They now emphasize intentionally hiring people who are not from our area, myself included, regardless of our qualifications. The bureaucrats don't like my two masters degrees from Columbia and my PHI BETA KAPPA from Dickinson. The medical staff is good though. Bureaucrats are a different animal. They only care about their job security and management fears being challenged by intelligent and well educated veterans. They are, like most bureaucrats, insecure people. If you are only going to the VA Wilkes Barre hospital for your healthcare, unless it is dermatology related, you are likely in good hands. They can't afford to keep a dermatologist on staff. Dermatologists are skin care doctors and skin care doctors make a lot more money in the realm of pretty people with rich husbands.
Let me tell you something about dr. Tom patts. That "scumbag" treated me like a piece of garbage when I was a patient for 5 days. His job in the mental health unit was the Medical physician . He purposely withheld over the counter medicine from me starting with Dulcolax to clear my constipation telling me you're not here for your medical health you're here for your mental health. Really? Then on top of it the fifth and final day I was there I was vomiting from 2 a.m. in the morning till 1 p.m. When I got discharged I asked him in team meeting if he can give me something for the nausea he looked at me and said "no" that's a medical problem.
Really ? This guy's a combat military veteran who was in charge of taking care of veterans with their Health? He has had multiple complaints from nurses that worked under him. And when I went up there in person to file a formal complaint against him even the mental health unit understood and knew the reason why I was complaining about him.He doesn't deserve more than a crackerjack doctor's certificate. Someday he's going to piss off the wrong patient and he's going to get punched in the mouth and then maybe he will learn to start talking to people with respect. My Overall health went downhill since he NEGLECTED my health! In the month following his MALPRACTICE of my health in 2016 I ended up in Wilkesbarre General Hospital with my large intestine almost fully blocked with stool!
