Breach Description

The Community Association of Progressive Dominicans, Inc. (ACDP) in New York was involved in a data breach as part of a larger incident affecting the Acacia Network. This breach was announced by The Puerto Rican Organization to Motivate, Enlighten, and Serve Addicts, Inc. (PROMESA), which is under the Acacia Network umbrella. Unauthorized access to employee email accounts led to the exposure of sensitive information. The compromised data included names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, addresses, dates of birth, financial account numbers, medical record numbers, resident identification numbers, health insurance information, Medicare numbers, provider names, treatment details, prescription information, and diagnostic information. However, it’s important to note that this incident did not impact all Acacia programs or all of their clients. The breach specifically affected a small percentage of clients from several Acacia programs, including the Bronx Accountable Healthcare Network; Bronx Addiction Services Integrated Concepts System, Inc.; Community Association of Progressive Dominicans; El Regreso, Inc.; Greenhope Services for Women, Inc.; La Casa De Salud, Inc.; Promesa, Inc.; and United Bronx Parents, Inc. Acacia has offered complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services to eligible clients whose Social Security number or driver’s license number was found in the compromised email accounts[1].

The Community Association of Progressive Dominicans (ACDP) is a non-profit organization established in 1979, focusing on the well-being of residents in Upper Manhattan, the Bronx, and New York City. It aims to facilitate community empowerment through education, provision of human services, and the development of individual skills and community leadership[9].
