Physio Logic Medicine, PC

Physio Logic Medicine, PC, located in New York, experienced a data breach that was detected on July 31, 2023. A comprehensive investigation was launched to determine the nature and scope of the cyberattack. It was found that an unauthorized third party had access to a single server between July 2, 2023, and August 4, 2023. On September 14, 2023, it was determined that protected health information (PHI) may have been accessed. The types of PHI potentially accessed included names, addresses, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, state identification numbers, diagnoses, treatment information, health insurance information, and payment card information. Notifications were mailed to the 9,580 individuals affected by the breach. The delay in issuing notifications was attributed to the time taken to identify and populate address information. In response to the breach, additional technical safeguards are being implemented, and policies and procedures are being reviewed and updated to improve data security[1].
