HealthInfoNet is Maine’s Regional Extension Center and was created under the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act’s Health Information Technology Extension Program. This Regional Extension Center helps physicians in Maine with the adoption of health information technology (HIT). It’s specific purpose is to create meaningful use of electronic health record (EHR) systems for physicians to improve their quality of care
There are many EHR vendors and various types of EHR software available to physicians, so choosing the best suited EHR software is a daunting task for physicians. The Maine Regional Extension Center HealthInfoNet can play an important role in guiding physicians through the selection process, as well as the EHR software implementation process, to obtain better use of health information technology. This Regional Extension Center also has a long-term goal of supporting the Health Information Exchanges development.
Some Regional Extension Centers offer a prequalified list of preferred EHR vendors, which were carefully selected out of a group of EMR (electronic medical record) companies. These preferred EHR vendors are committed to fulfilling the health information technology mission. The chosen electronic health record vendors offer greater functionality that enables practices to better participate in the Health Information Exchange and achieve meaningful use of EMR software. Additionally, these EHR vendors facilitate quick and smooth adoption of EHR software for these Regional Extension Center participants. They do this by offering discounted prices and standardized terms and condition, and may also offer group purchasing price.
Below is a list of preferred EHR vendors recommended by Maine’s Regional Extension Center HealthInfoNet:
