If you want to die, go to this hospital. My mother went here and was overdosed by the doctor and now her kidney function is killed and she has to start dialysis immediately 3 times a week for for four to six hours a day. They were only supposed to give her not more than 750 mg of gabapentin and they've had her on 1200 mg of it and killed her kidneys. Well they aren't going to like what coming at them now. Not to mention they gave her shingles when she was there for pneumonia. That place is disgusting. I had to tell them to clean her room. The trash on the floor was still there 15 hours after I was there plus more was on the floor. And this is a hospital with sick people. If I had the money, I would've medivac her to my state. She would get proper care at our hospitals. Stay clear of BMC UNLESS YOU WANT TO DIE!!!
Honestly doesn’t even deserve half a star. Go in with leg injury can’t walk and they won’t give nothing like crutches or anything but they sure the hell FORCED pain meds on when keep telling them i don’t want it. Don’t trust one thing about this place. Literally WORSE hospital ever been to.
Don't come here unless you want to get a huge medical bill for things that insurance won't cover. I went in for a checkup - did not get any answers to my problems/questions, and it ended up costing me $1k with insurance! All of BMC' billing department is a total joke and a mess. They never answer their phone and they can't get their codes straight. They have no idea how to work with an insurance company. Stay away from anything related to BMS or Berkshire Faculty services if you can.
My wife passed away on Feb. 4, 2019. She was rushed to BMC (N. Adams) and later to Pittsfield. This was an unexpected emergency. I can not say enough about the service we obtained from the doctors and staff. They are a very professional, concerned and congenial group.
This place boasts being in the top percentile, but those accolades are paid for! Yes, it is a teaching hospital and seems to be good at that, but as for serving the public...not so much! I have been fortunate enough to be connected to staff members, but I've seen what happens when you're not, or if the ones you know aren't around when you go in - not much.
The waiting is horrible! I've been in other ERs with higher populations and constant violent injuries and still, the turnaround is at least 70% faster! And it is NOT the staff - they are hard workers, for the most part who WANT to help, but beauracracy and hospital policy get in the way time and time again.
It is sad to say but, I've heard people refer to the place as Berkshire Murder Center due to all the seemingly unnecessary deaths that occur because of infection or having serious issues overlooked. If you are able to wait, go to Albany or BayState.
