I am at a loss to imagine how much more these wonderful caring professionals could have given to my wife and I. They were wonderful in each of 3 ER visits I have had and in my wife's ER and 2 hospital stays. They have been truly great people and skilled professionals fulfilling every hope and prayer for us since moving here.
*Also worth noting... their Terrace Cafe is off the charts good and inexpensive!
It is amazing how bad this hospital is. On the few times when I had to go to an emergency room, EVERY TIME I went there was bad. It was so terrible that I actually spoke with the person in charge one time, but nothing has changed. Even when I was dehydrated and only needed fluids, they couldn't even do that right. Although I was admitted, I was neglected and left in my room. The nurse rarely checked on me and the doctor never came. For the first, and only, time of my life, I signed myself out of this hospital because I was ignored. Do yourself a favor: if you need to go to a hospital, travel to Montgomery and go to Baptist there. If you value your health and well-being, don't trust EAMC with it. (It doesn't even deserve 1 star)
Everyone treated me with respect and helped me feel more comfortable along the way for my procedure. Helped me with insurance concerns & appointments. All departments were very caring and communicated everything to myself and my husband on what was happening. Could not have asked for better!
Awful! My son was left begging for help in the waiting room. Patients were asking if someone could help him. He is a 19 year old college student and has sickle cell disease. An animal should not be treated the way he was treated by this hospital. He was left crying and begging for someone to help him for hours. I was on the telephone with him trying to console him until we could get there. There was an elderly woman(guardian angel) in the waiting room who prayed for him because he was in so much distress. I wish I could find her to thank her. I have advised my son NOT to go East Alabama Medical Center again and wait in his dormitory until we can drive an hour and a half to pick him up and take him to a hospital that will care for him. 4 and half hours he waited....crying and begging for help. He was having back pain, chest pain and had difficulty breathing. Oh! He was given oxygen and left in the waiting room! Inhumane!!! The charge nurse complained to him about me calling asking someone to help him. He was taken to the hospital in our hometown (an hour and a half a way and admitted.
Omg! I cannot believe the transformation here! I arrived in ER at 1pm. The wait was long and there were several people there. I was given good attention and care as soon as I was in a room. Each care giver were extremely polite, attentive and caring. I was later admitted and found more of the same. The doctors continued to dig to find root causes. I was well served. I'm grateful.
