feedback about Holy Family Hospital
I live in Methuen and have never received less than the very best professional care from both the doctor's and nurses at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen. A while back I drove myself the half mile there (not too smart I know) as I was having a heart attack due to clogged arteries (plaque). It was 2:00 AM in the morning when I walked into the Emergency Room. The Hospital got all the required personnel assembled and called in early that morning - and by 4:00 AM I was in the operating room having stints placed in my arteries - which saved my life. I think that is sincere dedication and am eternally grateful to Holy Family Hospital. I also like the fact that priests and sister's can be asked for to administer Holy Communion.
Does not seem professional at all. Although last year when I had my gallbladder out, everything went well. The doctor and nurse was great all the way through. Today when I call to try and get an update on my fiancee because she had back surgery scheduled at 7. I called at noon to see if I could try and get an update and the lady had asked me if I was one of the people that's on the contact list to call and told her yeah. Well she said "then she's still in surgery then and will call when it's all set" and before I can say something, the phone hung up on me.
There is one very huge issue at this hospital, and it's the automatic doors to the Emergency Department. The entrance spans about three five-feet glass doors that slide open to the right as a person enters. You have to be to the far left for them to slide open - they don't have sensors that allow them to open at all unless you're on the far left.
My mother was having an asthma attack and drove herself to the hospital. The sensors did not "sense" her location as she was attempting to enter. She needed to sit down and almost died in her car right in front of the Emergency Room entrance. Someone did find her, and the hospital was able to save her life, but she could have found her way inside if the sensors allowed the doors to open. The entrance needs to expand the sensing distance by about 20 feet.
I wish I could give 0 star... I am not sure where they find their doctors or staff. The most unprofessional worst treatment I have ever seen. I believe the doctor my husband had may have been on drugs, he looked confused and lethargic asking the nurse what the best course of action should be. He also phoned a doctor for advice. I begged my husband to leave and go to Lahey, he was in such pain he refused. The next day, we went to a real hospital and had the real doctor to recheck his wound, needless to say, he had to wait another week to have the incision reopened. I think I would rather have a field doctor cut me open, than ever go to this hospital
You don't even deserve the 1 star but I had no choice!!! I can't express how much I HATE Holy family Hospital in Methuen. Not only did they mis-diagnosis my fiance as a child with Gastritis when he had Appendicitis which caused his Appendix to BURST inside him (they were also HORRIBLE to me when I was pregnant) but 2 days ago sent him home with what we were told was a "bad virus" and did nothing for him but give us a prescription for Motrin. After going to Lawrence General (amazing hospital & maternity!!) We find out he has Colitis. This man has been in excrushiating pain for 4 days that kept getting worse day by day. If he didn't go back when he did this could have been more serious. I wouldn't go to this hospital ever again even if it was my last resort... I knew we shouldn't have came here to begin with but the main my fiance was in we couldn't wait. This explains why it's always dead there and LG always has a wait of over an hour. Your nurses and staff are also rude and unprofessional. I'm sure we will have a nice bill come in for them laying him in a bed and not checking on him AT ALL.
