They were awfully nice and very courteous and very fast to get to me

Last April, my husband was sorting cattle when he was hit in the forehead by a gate. He got a small cut that was gaping open, so to avoid it giving him a larger scar, we took him to Labette Health Center in Independence. The facility and staff there were very nice, and they gave him a tetanus shot and 4 stitches. I was shocked when we received the bill in May...after our insurance had paid their portion, our part of the bill was over $1300. I called their billing department to ask for a review to possibly reduce the cost, since it was such a minor service. The review took 4 months (September), and Labette Health decided not to reduce the level of service for the ER visit. On October 9th, I called the billing department again and they gave me a 5% discount if we paid it all at once over the phone, so we did paying $1287.15. To top it off, Labette Health had already sent our account to collections, so we started getting calls and letters October 15th. The collection agency has even tried to just collect the 5% that Labette Health takes off when a customer pays their bill in full rather than makes payments. I hope we don't ever have to go back, because we certainly couldn't afford anything more than 4 stitches and a tetanus shot.

All good.

Went in for an intractable migraine and wasn't even put in a room. Stayed in triage the whole time and the dr came in and said they couldn't do anything for me since I was under the care of a neurologist, even though I told him that the neurologist told me to go to the er. He then said he could give me some nausea meds but that's it. Very poor treatment here and will never go back even if I am dying.
