My second experience at this hosp. First with my significant other who had a stroke in 2018.He survived and is in rehab. (Thank you stroke center.) Second with my young son (39) who had a heart attack which also affected his brain. Both experiences have been exceptional. The hospital staff, nurses and doctors and everyone involved were wonderful . Very organized and efficient. Thank you Heart and vascular for saving my sons life.
They were very accommodating and thoughtful. The surgeon, Dr Grant, checked in with us repeatedly and was very communicative. They made a hard situation a lot easier.
A year ago I went to the dermatologist here after calling and being assured by the staff that it was COVERED after a $40 copayment (which I paid). I just found out they sent me to collections for $110 for the appointment. I was there for 15 minutes and got prescribed an $8 antibiotic cream. $150, really? Penn State sucks and so does their medical center.
I recently visited the Emergency Room. My 6 week old son had a bad cough and wasn’t feeling well. I arrived at the same time as another couple with their newborn baby, around 9:15pm. They were taken back rather quickly. My son saw a nurse for triage at 10pm. I then waited in the lobby waiting area until 12:45. According to the nurses, the pediatric portion of the facility was at maximum capacity. I, however, saw 4 different children and their families leave 40 min prior. One of those families being the couple who arrived at the same time as myself. I asked the nurse again why my son hasn’t been seen by a doctor. She told me with an attitude that it’s not by arrival but by how quickly a patient needs seen. I told her that my son was 6 weeks old. How is he not a priority. She said I understand but the pediatric is full. Again shortly and with an attitude. I took my son and left. I went to UPMC Harrisburg and he was seen immediately. He had a fever, that Hershey didn’t detect. He had his tests drawn, doctor and pediatrician seen him, all in About an hour or less. I will never go to this hospital again. How a sick 6 week old infant isn’t a priority is beyond me. Don’t waste your time here. Staff isn’t friendly or helpful. Id give it zero stars if I could.
Very unprofessional and inconsiderate. You should consider what other people have going on in their lives before you waste their time I've been waiting to have a scheduled c section since 6am, its now 10am. I can't eat or drink anything since last night, I only got 2 hours of sleep. I made plans for my kids, took off work, and rearranged everything for this date (which they picked)!!! So why didn't anyone tell me the possibility of this happening until 5am the day of surgery? I will never come to this hospital again. I should have gone to York hospital like i did last time...
Just to update this review, i ended up taking out the i.v. at 9pm n leaving. Still pregnant. I didn't eat since 9pm the night before. They didn't give me anything to eat or drink or even ice chips which i was told i could have, but never brought. The next day i had to return to have a c section, alone this time, since my best friend couldn't take off work another day to be with me. It was horrible. I will never go here again. I didn't even go back for my post partum checkup at 6 weeks because of what i went through there. Ughh. Horrible.
