feedback about Presence St Marys Hospital
My mom had out patient surgery. The staff & doctor seemed fine. Explained at three separate places that day that she would not be going home after surgery, that she would be staying with me while she was recovering. The discharge nurse double checked to make sure my information was correct on mom's chart. I took my mom home six days after her surgery & there were numerous messages left at her house from the hospital. Poor follow-up and it's like they didn't listen to us at all when we were there.
Unbelievably horrible. Other reviews are correct. If you are self pay or Medicare you are in and out, private insurance and everything is drug out for ever. Wife went to the ER with behavioral health issues and thought since they were Catholic run they would be more compassionate. WRONG. Very rude staff. She went in at 530AM. 1030 nurse came in for a second urine sample because they lost the first one. 1130 they said they were just waiting on the tests. MHT finally came in for an interview around noon, said the Dr would be back to interview also. 1230 MHT came back in for a second interview one in one. No problem, I completely understand. I went to the waiting room. Finally after waiting for word to go back in and be with her reception tracked her down as 230PM. They had admitted her with out even informing me what was going on. Went to see her at 700PM. Still hadn't seen a Dr. Been in for 16 hours, still hadn't gotten a nicotine patch the nurse in the ER said they would get. Any time she asked they said they were getting it. It is now 30hrs in and STILL no Dr consultation. Go a mile up the road to Rush Riverside. There the staff actually does care and is at least honest with you. I am considering changing my primary care Doctor just so StMs parent company doesn't ever get another dime from us.
It was absolutely a mistake to give birth here. Worst experience ever, inconsiderate nurses with unprofessional attitudes. I would never refer anyone here.
Of the two hospitals in the area, I recommend St Mary's ER before Riverside ER. They treat you like a human here (St Mary's), not just another thing on an assembly line (Riverside). There's still room for improvement as some of the long time nurses can be rude but it's much less rudeness than at Riverside. If you come in with genuine issues, they will treat you as fast as possible. The majority of the nurses are very caring and will listen to you. Keep up the good work and thank you!
Most of the staff are pretty freaking rude especially the people in the office
