My wife went into the ER at Valley Baptist for a kidney infection that was septic.
The ER Doctor treated my wife successfully and turned her over to the ICU.
My wife was taken care of by a very kind nursing staff. However another Doctor was not assigned to her for 4 days, which concerned us. After doctor was assigned, he realized the staff had over medicating my wife for four days with morphine for her moderate pain.
Other than that, the staff was friendly and informative, and very responsive for the few times she called for assistance.

This is by far the best hospital I've been too in the RGV. Very friendly and courteous staff members. Very professional. If anyone has a choice to go to any hospital, I sincerely recommend you come to this one. You'll be treated with respect and as family , unlike the others here in Brownsville and throughout the valley. I'm a veteran and I've never been treated like I did in any other hospital. My total respects to this hospital staff. Very professional.

I could not pre register for a procedure because the dr. had not send the orders and I was not in their computer. The pre registration nurse told me I was doing everything the day before so I would not waste time during the procedure day. NOT TRUE.
The billing clerk and the financial counselor are more interested in asking for money instead of helping you reduce the amount owed. ( I was not offered, received a discount like Valley Regional does). My entrance was at the right time,but nurses,anesthesiologists and all other personnel do not check up on patients, they leave you there until dr. gets in. Dr sees you for 5 min and you dont see anyone again until you wake up. *Need MORE personnel.
Hospital needs to upgrade same day procedures waiting rooms,patient areas and give some training to money counselors. We are people,patients. NOT money machines.

Wow I still cannot believe the mess I went through in this hospital, and how I am still going through it to receive my prescriptions. I am a type 1 diabetic that went into this hospital through the emergency, due to tremendous stomach pains. I walked in with a vomit bag and asked for a new one due to mine being used already they gave me one I then asked if they could throw mine away, why? because I could barely walk mind you I don't know this hospital well so they told me "you can actually throw it away in our trash bins. I was beyond upset and did it anyways. Then I waited forever for a room got put into one and started showing signs of appendix problems they never started an iv either and I was vomiting a lot they thought it was my gallbladder at first but I clearly showed appendix signs. They then kept saying I was going to get a laparoscopy done until blood work came in and they finally decided to run an iv on me but oh my they decided to give a dehydrated type 1 diabetic an iv that contained sugar. then they got me ready for an emergency appendectomy surgery. The anesthesiologist was making small talk with me I told him my info type 1 diabetic etc he then checked my glucose levels and was stunned at how high it was and he clearly said " wow the er really messed up with giving you the wrong Iv he broke it down and even said these are asap surgeries you showed all the signs since you got in that you needed this right away and you could've even gone home after this procedure but now you will have to stay due to. their errors I apologize for this" when he said that I was beyond upset then after that I was in the ICU where they took supreme care of me and were waiting to send me to the surgical room floor again when. they eventually did this is when it all went downhill again I had the worst of the worst nightshift nurses my dinner was forgot about and they gave me the wrong insulin my sugar dropped to a 49 they took their sweet time to hand me snacks while they were just sitting down on chairs talking. then I asked to get a glucose check again and again until finally they came to check it the next morning they wanted to keep me another day when it was not necessary they also did nit want to inject me because they had the wrong insulin which was an error that was not necessary either I waited until almost 10:30 to get my lantus injection so my glucose levels peaked again then they brought in the doctor to tell me I was wrong and did not know a damn thing about diabetes which I have had for 20 years now that boiled my blood not that they care anyways I never got my perceptions to get help wth the Salvation Army for after and they are making my life a living hell at the moment because the doctor that wrote my prescription is on vacation now and I am tired of driving everywhere and the fact that the surgical floor does not care about their patients neither does the ER and for them to tell me sorry its because we aren't use to type 1 patients is just plain dumb. Only Elizabeth a rn there on that floor helped me while the rest did not doctor Hernandez was too busy focusing on her vacation I assume and am sorry for all the grammatical errors on here. I wish I went somewhere else oh well.
