I had the most wonderful experience having my baby at Alta View Hospital. The nurses, doctors and staff are extremely knowledgeable and competent in what they do. But something I wasn’t expecting was the emotional support they would give me. As a first-time mother, you don’t know what it’s like to have a baby, so you’re left to imagine the worst. I had prepared physically for the birth, but I didn’t know how much emotional support I would need to be able to actually go through with it.
When I got to the unit to check in, they told me my nurse would be Julie. When another staff member heard that, she said “you’ve got one of the best nurses we have.” I thought to myself ‘I’ll bet they say that about all of them,’ but I soon found it to be true. I couldn’t have gone through the birth process without Julie’s calm reassurance and encouragement. At one point during the birth, I said to her ‘I can’t do this.’ And she quietly whispered, “you can do this, and you’re going to.”
Then during my stay, I had excellent staff caring for me and my little one: Heidi, Darcy, Samantha, Brenda, Debbie, Heather, and Chanel. Bonnie, the housekeeper was also kind, encouraging, and a complete professional. When she came into my room she not only did her duties, but she talked to me like a real person, and asked if I needed anything.
I’m so thrilled with my experience at Alta View Hospital Women’s Center. They are a real class act.
