Attached photo is this location in a nutshell. During my first visit here I met a man with no legs, while waiting in a shared clinic waiting room. We were there for over an hour waiting for our appointments, before he turned to me and said, "Remember, the VA isn't here to help, it's here to make you go home and not come back." The more I use this facility the more I realize he was right. Expect extreme delays, incorrect phone extensions, and appointment cards sending you to empty buildings.

A Vietnam veteran, a good friend, may have suffered a mini stroke so I call 911. Within 5 min their @ the house. Bay Pines determines his hemoglobin level was 7 and needed a transfusion. They admit him. He had 2 units of blood, upper & lower GI plus a colonoscopy (sp?) I was extremely impressed with the quality of care and attention to detail he received. I wish to extend my gratitude for those on the 4A wing. Great team! Keep up the wonderful work.

Dr. J. Sims ran two urine tests: 12/16/14 and 12/23/14. Said I had blood in my urine. Ordered a CT which was unremarkable except for an embolism in my aorta near my stomach.....follow up in 6 months with ultra sound. He sent me to the Urology group and they wanted to prop my bladder. Well obviously, I said no. When I began to ask question about the urine tests. Dr. Sims said that "if I didn't stop asking questions, he'd report me". I changed doctors. The ultrasound revealed NO embolism in my aorta. Since December, 2014, other urine tests were done which revealed "negative" results. It appears these labs and doctors are required to fill quotas with no regard to patience concerns. Summary: do not believe everything they tell you!

Can't say enough, Treated very well, professional, patient and always ready to help. I will never go anywhere else for any treatment. If it wasn't for VA I would be suffering in some secondary hospital in St. Petersburg. My Doctors and Nurses are the best. The Dom staff rock, the food, good. I hope you all can appreciate the many Veterans who still serve here and everywhere.
