Baystate is the only hospital I go to. I have numerous serious health problems and spend most of my life with doctors. I have been an inpatient many, many times and have always received exceptional care here. This comprehensive medical center offers care and services that are definitely comparable with any Boston facility, in my opinion. The ER is Always crowded, however they have an excellent Triage system in place that will place you in the order of the seriousness of your condition. You will receive very good treatment from the all staff, nurses, doctors, phlebotomist's, housekeeping, transport, etc. All are efficient, friendly, super good at what they do. I have had to wait longer than I wanted to sometimes, but it is because they are so overloaded with patients. I will say that in the ER there are people that could have been treated at the many Urgent Care offices available now in our area instead of going to the hospital. If people would go to a doctor or an Urgent Care facility when they have routine problems, it would free up the Emergency Room for the more serious, complicated patients.
I have experienced the ER many, many times, many of the various care units (old and new types of rooms), the infusion clinic, surgery, just about any area of this hospital that it is possible to have needed care in I've used, therefore I feel confident enough about Baystate Medical Center to highly recommend it to others needing medical care.
