My mother was admitted to the ER at SJ Hospital on 10/10/18. She was there for EIGHT hours! And absolutely NOTHING of importance was done here. She was dehydrated and this bunch didnt even bother to give her fluids during that 8 hour stay!!! She, of course, ended up back there again this weekend. Stonewall, your best bet is to eat that bill from 10/10 because I will tear it up into small pieces and send it back to you when you mail it to her.

This is a critical access center. It is not its function to have multiple specific specialties. It is not a level 1 trauma center. That is not what it is designed to be. However, within it's scope, this hospital it is an excellent facility and is overseen well with strongly established protocols via the Carilion hospital group and the academic research based Roanoke home hospital system. The individuals that work there have worked hard for their community for decades - and any disrespectful careless reviews on here should be considered within the context of the lack of understanding of it's authors, no offense, just facts.

Great staff. Have had good experiences here. Emergency room can be slow, but this is from broken medical/insurance system proceedures. Everyone friendly and helpful. Had to bring in an elderly friend recently and I cannot begin to describe the great care received.

I really wish it let you rate less than a star because it doesn't deserve none! This hospital especially the ER department is a poor excuse for so called treatment. The receptionist was nice and helpful. The Physician Assistant knew absolutely nothing and said to my daughter that she makes frequent ER visits, she has been twice! The doctor didn't know much more. The attitude of all the staff I came into contact with were rude, disrespectful and actually told me I didn't need to be informed of my child's treatment since she was 15 and they didn't need my consent. I took my phone out to answer a text and she called in a police officer to take my phone because she thought I was recording her, which I was not! They refused to give my daughter fluids and said there was a shortage of anti nausea medicine. They need to clean house get rid of ALL the doctor's and nurses and completely start fresh that's the only way I see this hospital getting any better. Do NOT go here!! Please go to Roanoke, Augusta Medical, Lynchburg, or UVA. They should be ashamed to even call this a hospital. They truly don't care because that means they have to get up and actually do some work, instead of sitting and gossiping about the patient's, which I heard clearly. We are now at Roanoke Memorial and they were in shock they didn't give her IV Fluids and she is getting anti nausea medicine and said they were unaware of any shortage! They are saying they are admitting her, but Stonewall Jackson did nothing, but made me feel stupid for wasting their time. I'm in total disgust. This is my child and they treated her and me like we were trash.

Two years ago we were visiting in the area when my husband's hand began to swell and become very painful. We took him to CSJH ER where he received prompt and excellent care for a fast-moving infection that could have killed him.

We recently moved to the area; again my husband had problems and we took him immediately to CSJH. He was seen promptly and received supportive care. He remains in the hospital for observation as they try to determine the cause of his problem . Everyone has been knowledgeable, helpful and kind. I feel comfortable knowing that he is in good hands.
