I had surgery to remove a infection mass in my neck. I was not given any antibiotics after my surgery and the mass grew back 3 times bigger after 2 days. I then went back to the emergency room at Carlisle. Once I gave the head nurse all my info on why I was there, I was taken back to a room. The 1st lady that came into my room was about to hook me up to an IV before dropping everything on the floor! So as my arm is dangling on the side of my bed after blood had been drawn an a IV put in, I noticed several minutes later that my hand was throbbing and going completely numb! As another nurse was walking past my room, she walked back looking into my room and told the girl, "shouldn't you take that tourniquet off his arm"? Oh yeah, she forgot! So a few minutes later a female doctor comes in and says to me that after looking at my pathology report, it suggested to her that it was cancer?! My question was what pathology report? My biopsy results are not available till next week and the only blood test I had was taken 2 minutes ago, which those results were to be available in an hour. SO, 2.5 hours later my results came back and time for my cat scan. Those results were to be available in 45 minutes! Another 2 hours later I'm told, "sorry about the wait but there's nobody here qualified to read my cat scan results??? All I wanted was a prescription for antibiotics! So at 9:30 PM, after being there for 6 hours, they want me to stay the night and get an antibiotic IV? Hello??? I've been here for 6 hours and NOW you want to give me antibiotics IV?? I demanded a antibiotic pill now plus a prescription to go and signed myself out! NO WAY I'll be returning to Carlisle hospital!
Staff on the floor are great but everything takes forever. Waiting for result of a simple test for four hours since the test and still waiting. Amazing how 1 doctor report can tie up a discharge for hours.
I had a bad enough experience with this place when I had to go to the ER there but there is something else way worse about UPMC Pinnacle that makes it a certainty I will never use them for ANYTHING ever if I have the choice. A family member of mine had to take a controlled substance for a few weeks, did you know that it states right on their agreement for that if you have positive drug test for anything while on their controlled substance agreement that not only will they terminate your prescription, which is 100% understandable and completely within reason, but the part that is despicable is where they say if you fail a drug test it can result in termination from any care at ALL PinnacleHealth sites? In a country in the grip of an opioid crisis and in area as hard hit as ours, this hospitals idea of helping people and caring for them is that instead of helping someone who may have a problem, they just terminate them and leave them without a doctor to go to. That kind of treatment of people who NEED help in this day in age with the opiate crisis is inexcusable and revolting. That doesn’t show care for people and the community, it shows they ONLY care about avoiding some kind of lawsuit or something. I’ll go far out of my way to see my family receives care somewhere other than here. That is a heartbreaking and cruel policy by a heartless company
Went to the emergency room because I was in a car accident. Waited FOUR HOURS in the waiting room because the rooms were full. Pain in my back gets noticeably worse but no one does anything about it. Got to my room, waited 1 hour before I saw anyone. Finally got X-Rays and waited for the doctor to come in to explain them. Never happened. Waited 2 more hours. Some nurse comes in with discharge papers and a prescription which could not be filled until tomorrow since this hospital doesn't have a pharmacy. That's when me being nice ended. Complained like crazy and I finally got to leave with some meds to hold me over for the night. Seven and a half total hours there for maybe two hours of actual service and less than half an hour with an actual doctor. This place is straight up dangerous with that kind of wait time and how these people get away with this kind of incompetence is beyond me. Don't be nice to these people. Be as big a prick as you can be and you MAYBE will get some medical treatment.
If I could I'd give it a zero the nurses couldn't get an IV in my girlfriends arm called the nurse it would take 10-20 minutes till someone showed up and when someone did show up we didn't get any answers that we needed terrible ER if you gotta call 911 it's an emergency don't go there West Shore or Harrisburg before ever going there again!!!
