My experience with CHOP. Well lets start with beginning. My son has a growth that CHOP removes. Diagnoses it as Cancer. Then calls us to tell us what they found and then leaves it at that. No follow up. No this is what is next. Leaves my wife and myself with tons of questions no answers no support and no direction for what is next. We call everywhere. Finally get a Dr. at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore MD who is willing to help us with answers. Then go to DuPont in DE and get additional information and finally a week later CHOP decides they want to talk to us about it. During our visit the Dr and the Staff were very nice and understanding. They apologized for the lack of follow up and tell us this is not the way it was supposed to work. We continue to come for visits and had conversations about our insurance and the holes in the coverages they provide. We are told there are programs with the hospital and that they understand and they are willing to help us. But when the bill comes in and we talk to the billing department they offer a monthly payment plan which sounds great right up to the point where you realize its only the 1st bill of many that are going to come in and they will monthly bill you until only Bill Gates can pay the monthly payment. They offer you Financial aid but they want you to spill your whole life to them as if you have already not been through enough with worrying about your child. So in the end I guess this a rant. The Dr's are good at what they do. The people are nice but in the end it is a business and the organization as whole is more like Disney world they are best at what they do they smile at you because YOU pay them too not because they truly care. Again that is the organization not the individuals who work there. I see there kindness and the heart and soul they put into helping the Children. I want to say thank you the staff who helped my son I truly appreciate your efforts. To the hospital I guess thanks.
Best hospital ever. The staff is friendly. The environment is welcoming. The cafeteria is lovely. My son treated there for his cancer @ 21. My grandson is getting a new heart as I type this. I recommend everyone take their babies there. They really care 💯💯💯
Going to one of the best pediatric hospitals in the nation - I trusted that my child was in good hands. Today, I feel very naive for assuming that mistakes can't happen at CHOP. While I do believe CHOP has some of the best doctors and nurses that exist - you MUST advocate for your child. Please please please always double check every medication they administer, challenge everything that does not sit well, and ALWAYS remember that you know your child better than anyone else.
My son has a rare congenital malformation and I’ve seen several ENTS in NJ who aren’t even familiar with his case. I became desperate for answers and a resolution to his condition. CHOP knew exactly how to handle his case and has seen several like his.
THANK YOU CHOP! Doctors and nurses were exceptional.
I would be completely lost if I didn’t have this hospital near me. I am there at least 2 times a month and I always love going. My daughter was born with special needs and I am so grateful to CHOP for being there to accommodate my daughter and my family. Thank you!
