After reading the reviews I was terrified when I found out that I had to have my Thyroid Surgery on 9/20 at this hospital. My Surgeon Dr. David Salley and the staff in same day surgery was nothing short of Amazing. I had to say over night and I was taken to the 5th floor room 507. Penny my nurse for the evening was professional and caring I could not have asked for anyone better. When she was leaving in the morning she brought Lattice, my morning nurse in to meet me, again Amazing. Before I went home Mary Bentley the nurse Leader came in to make sure my say was all that I needed it to be. You guys Rock. Thanks so much.

My husband was admitted thru the ER after the ER doc said he had mono and needed an MRI - that he also said would not be able to be done at an outpatient imaging center (lies). We were told by the ER doc that he'd have to stay overnight in order to have this MRI, even though is was 4:00pm.. apparently the hospitalists work banker hours. The next day the specialist visits and says he does not need the MRI (the whole reason we stayed overnight in the first place) and he agreed my husband could be discharged. That was at 1pm. Here we are at 5pm, and still no discharge. The nurse refuses to remove the IV hookup from his arm and she told us if we left without being officially discharged in the system...that our insurance likely will not cover this entire day of care...an entire day of which zero care has been provided.
Still being held hostage. 10 out of 10...will not come back again.

Horrible,Dirty Rooms,Chaotic, Unprofessional, Horrible Service, Restrooms Look and smell like they haven't been cleaned in weeks... False Advertisement for Er wait time, Estimated wait time stated 9 min... We arrived at 11:06 p.m my dad was having shortness of breath, pains in legs, swollen feet... Its now 3:13 a.m and No one has been in here yet!!! I have complained repeatedly to no avail. This is Definitely a Death Trap with Several unqualified, nurse, and doctors... If you can make it to MCV I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GO THERE... AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST IF POSSIBLE!!... DR.SCOTT HICKEY(medical director/ER) AND KELLY GRINDSTAFF(nurse leader/director) PLEASE HAVE YOUR EMPLOYEES TAKE A REFRESHER COURSE IN ALL AREAS FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS,TO DEALING WITH PATIENTS ALSO, KEEPING THEM INFORMED EVERY STEP OF THE WAY IN REGARDS TO WHATS GOING ON WITH TEST RESULTS ETC... I'VE NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH POOR SERVICE AT A HOSPITAL UNTIL TODAY!!! DO BETTER!... ***OUTCOME**** SENT HOME WITH A Prescription for OXYCODONE .. I DONT THINK HIS SYMPTOMS WARRANTED OXYCODONE (MY OPINION)

Went this past Saturday to the ER as a recommendation from an on call doctor. I'm pregnant, hadn't eaten or drink anything in four days because it wouldn't stay down. I go in, maybe a ten minute wait not too bad. But once I'm in the bed it went to hell. The nurse hooked me up to get fluids but before took blood. After what seemed like an hour, without being checked on, my husband noticed the fluids weren't working at all. So he had to go get her. She came in and fixed it. Dr was very quiet and unusual and tried to prescribe me medicine that I had previously taken and didn't work, multiple times. Was told they'd need a urine sample, never followed through. About three hours later, blood work was back and "perfect", was told I'm not dehydrated. They hurried the fluids, prescribed a medicine I could get at any pharmacy, sent me home. Come to find out later from another nurse that there's no way you can tell from a blood test if you're dehydrated or not. Will never go to this ER again, just not worth it.
