I had only great experiences with doctors and staff. Everyone I encountered so far was professional, pleasant and extremely helpful. It took me a while to get used to it, since I more often than not have to stand up for the services I should be able to expect.
Would be a 5, but my last experience cut that back to half that. It was that bad.
I had pulled out my back and was in a severe amount of pain. I can’t even describe it but I couldn’t move, I couldn’t roll, I could barely walk, couldn’t stand straight and sitting was just as bad. I can typically handle a high amount but this was beyond my ability to cope with. I could not even reach around to wipe my behind! AND I had a colonoscopy prep scheduled for that night.
I went in, literally in tears, asking for help. Im terribly disappointed in their idea of pain management. Not only did they not give anything that helped for pain, they gave me a strong muscle relaxer which clearly had an counter productive effect on the prep. Ended up going through the prep in unbearable pain and to make the icing on the cake, the prep was “unsatisfactory” and I have to do it again. I want to give a one star based on that experience alone but they have other services that are fine. Just expect to stay in pain if you are in pain. It’s torture but you won’t get the help you seek. At least I didn’t. End of story.
I never had a problem setting up an appointment, and I have never waited very long before I received treatment, or an interview when I get there. I call my meds in by phone, and receive them by mail in about a week. It is a long drive for me to get there, but so far, it has been well worth it.
This is a very well ran facility. I stayed here for 38 days. I am thoroughly impressed by the staff. The accommodations are very supportive of veterans. I stayed in building 39B. There are washer and dryers for your clothes, and plenty of room in an armour for your clothes. I would like to say, the LCSW's Tom & Carol were one of the most down to earth, understanding individuals who you can possibly meet. The health technians- particularly Dennis & Jeff are great guys, who genuinely care about veterans sincerely.
The nurses are PHENOMENAL. Mary, as well as Zedra are fantastic examples of what good people are. The TRAINING and tools I received here cannot be appreciated enough. I am heavily thankful for all the staff at this facility. If you are contemplating coming here, I strongly recommend that.
The patients come from all demographics... If you do not have thick skin, this might not be your cup of tea. (Most veterans do not have this issue anyway.) But as a precaution, some veterans are a bit "sketchy". As a generalization, this should not be a deterrent. I met some very good men here, and I am not ashamed to be a fellow veteran in the same program. I suffer from ailments, and this facility was what I needed. If you need help, YOU NEED TO STOP IN COATESVILLE. These PROFESSIONALS will help! Thank you all.
Best VA I have ever been at. Staff goes out of their way to help in anyway!
