December 2018: Went to ER at 5:30 in the evening. There were no other patients. The triage nurse tried to help us in triage in order to save an ER visit, but it didn't work. We needed to see the dr. Receptionist and triage nurse were absolutely wonderful. The nurse that did the procedure the dr said was needed, he was also amazing. Dr D was ok at best. Horrible bedside manner that appeared (to us) to come from his disapproval of the patient's lifestyle. He could use some training on how to treat the illness without judging the patient. After he decided what needed to be done, we never saw him again. He did not even come to see how the procedure went. He didn't tell us that he was prescribing anything, why he was prescribing it, or how to take/use the medication. Luckily the nurse was responsible and did all of that for him. Even though I was disappointed in the dr, the rest of the staff was great, so overall they get 4 stars.
January 2019: Was back in the ER with same individual on a Friday night. This time came in for chest pains, shortness of breath. Ambulance ride to hospital. Ended up getting admitted. Saw a doctor in the ER who was very good. But then after being admitted (12:30 am Saturday) was assigned to the doctor on call. But it wasn't a doctor but a nurse practitioner. I assumed that the "doctor" in the ER was a doctor, but she may have been a nurse practitioner. The poor nurse practitioner that was on -call for the hospital was sooooo overworked. We had to wait until after noon on Saturday before we saw the nurse practitioner. She kept getting called back to the ER to help patients, so she wasn't able to help the ones already in the hospital. She was on a 48-hour shift and the nurses were telling me that she had been so busy that she had been up for over 24 hours. She did her best, had a great bedside manner, and was not judgmental. She, and the 3 shifts of nurses that we saw, were great with the patient and had no problem with the patient's lifestyle.
I'm still leaving the rating at a 4. Things were better; but why nurse practitioners instead of doctors? Why was the nurse practitioner working such a long shift with no help? I just found out that the clinic owned by the hospital (in the same parking lot as the hospital) has only nurse practitioners. Why? Less of a cost? I hope that it isn't that the hospital is too cheep to pay for doctors. I will go to a hospital with doctors and not just nurse practitioners if i have a choice. In this instance there was no choice because the ambulance would only take the patient to Colusa hospital.
ER staff is EXCELLENT!! However, after being admitted, the nurses back there don't seem to care one percent. They consistently withheld pain medication, which made everything else more intolerable. I only saw a NP or Dr once every morning for less than 5 minutes. They also have roaming nurses that come in for 1 or 2 shifts & it shows they don't know where items are, which takes them much longer to do anything. Talk about setting your employees up for failure!
Been waiting in the front for a very long time with no one to help me check in/register. I walked through the hospital asking for help and got sent back to sit down and wait for someone to come. This is very unprofessional and I will be asking My doctor to not send me here ever again. I'd rather drive an extra couple of hours to be treated in a timely manner than waste a couple of hours in the waiting room without being helped.
Can I give this hospital minus 5 stars I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you want to be butchered
Great Hospital, staff is very helpful. Its clean and is newly renovated. Convenient to check in and out!
