Decatur Memorial Hospital

The billing department is rude and uneducated. This has happened 3 times. They didn’t bill both insurances that I have them. When I got the bill, they said to tear that up and they will bill the secondary insurance company. Then I get a letter stating that I owe a smaller amount and within two weeks, they have turned me into collection agency. Three times this has happened! If my child’s specialty doctor would go to St. Mary’s, I would be thrilled. DMH needs a billing stuff with an education greater than a 4th grader. Total waste-there are enough unemployed people out there that could do much better. If I could rate a negative number, I would.

Terrible service my mother worked at Dmh for over 20 yrs, and this place keeps going down hill. No reason anyone should have wait 3.5 hrs ti get into a room then sit another 4 hrs to get some kind of answer. Worthless would easier to drive to Bloomington

I would be very careful with this hospital. One of their employees enjoys engaging in illegal activities of bullying and harassment. This is not limited to “normal” people. She has bullied minors with special needs.

To the people complaining about having to wait in the ER- go find a dictionary, look for the word “triage,” and then come back and complain about how your issue is just so much more important than everyone else’s. That aside, I’ve never had a bad experience with this hospital. I suspect that conducting oneself like a civilized human being goes a long way toward a good experience here. It’s like people in the medical field are actually human and deserving of common decency and respect. Extra stars to the awesome volunteers in surgical waiting; they’re the best!

2 surgeries in 2 days. Went home March 1st. Fast response time from Decatur Ambulance service to DMH, in surgery within 30 minutes. Admitted Feb 27th. Surgery again within 24 hrs. Quick, friendly, hospital staff and surgeons. Had Emergency Revision Surgery to Rt.hip replacement, released March 1st by 3pm. Quick thank you to the orthopedic surgeon Dr. Sullivan, experienced anesthesiologists, nursing staff at ORTHOPEDIC wing in DMH wing.
