In order to answer the question why we love Duke Hospital? There are details I have to go into. My husband was born and raised in Durham, NC. He actually was born in Duke Hospital when it was only one building standing. It is now a big conglomerate of medical buildings and subsidiaries. We moved from New York to North Carolina four years ago. My husband had medical issues that were not addressed to our satisfaction in New York. The medical professionals in New York were slow in getting to the bottom of my husband's medical problems. Everything there seemed rushed and clinical. All we got was a lot of doctor's appointment and a stack of medical bills. Once we arrived in NC and were established, we found a primary care physician at one of Duke Primary Care facilities. From there, we received referrals to doctors that were in Duke Hospital. The Doctors immediately took charge of my husband's medical care. They were able to evaluate, dignois and solve his medical issues. They perform medical testings and procedures with the latest medical equipment. All was done in a timely manner. My husband's medical issues were solved and we were satisfied. He is doing fine. So to answer the question as to why we love Duke Hospital? It is the only place where my husband were able to receive the proper medical care he needed. The doctors, nurses and medical staff displayed professionalism, they were knowledgeable, warm and caring. A kind word with a warm smile can go along way when you are facing a medical issue.

The men and women of Duke saved my Dad's life. His liver went bad due to his gallbladder being bad. They did a transplant and now my Dad looks and feels better. They still take good care of him and check on him. They care for their patients and treat them like family. Thank you Duke for giving me more years with my father. Love and Peace.

We arrived at 10:20am....it's now 9:11pm and we STILL haven't been seen. There are people in here that have been waiting even longer. That is a ridiculous amount of time to have to wait. The staff keep telling us to wait another 30 minutes because beds are opening up, but then when we ask an hour later they say the same thing. When we threaten to leave they say wait 30 more minutes. 11 hours later here we are still waiting. This is the hospital we were referred to? Wow. Would not recommend.

Had my hip replaced yesterday and I’m on my way home now. The whole team at Duke was incredible. The nurses easily went above and beyond for my 24-hour stay to make sure I was as comfortable as possible and worked with me to get home to relax and heal. Thank you Duke Hospital and Duke Ortho for a great job!
