feedback about East Cooper Medical Center
This is the BEST HOSPITAL AND STAFF I have ever been in!! The nurses and staff were incredible. Always on point, very professional and pleasant to be around. This is my hospital of choice. Great job everyone and thank you.
From the moment we arrived at East Cooper to the moment we left, everything was amazing! I labored for 36 hours before having to get a c-section and every nurse we encountered made us feel supported and were nothing but supportive of our original birth plan. They were highly receptive of me wanting to labor as naturally as possible and never pushed any unnecessary interventions on me. Once in postpartum recovery the same level of attentiveness and care followed through. So glad we chose East Cooper to give birth at -can’t recommend enough!
I delivered my son there 6 months ago and I STILL think about how awesome the nurses were when I delivered Carter. I couldn’t think about delivering anywhere else in Charleston, when it comes time for a 2nd child. Daddy was impressed with the steak dinner as well!! Thank you again for being awesome.
This place is so frustrating. I was referred to the physical therapist. I called to get a quote to see if I could afford the appointments before scheduling any. After giving them my insurance information I was quoted by the receptionist over the phone, $94.38 for the initial evaluation visit and $55.58 for future visits. I then asked how much it would be for a self-pay without insurance as I know this can sometime be cheaper. She said it would be $200 something. So I scheduled the appointments, gave my insurance information, and paid the $94.38 immediately after my first visit to the receptionist. The therapist requested to see me every other week. After the second visit I asked to pay the balance due immediately after the visit. She said she didn’t know what that amount would be and that she would give me a call that week to let me know the amount. I never received a call. The same thing happened after my third visit. It wasn’t until after my third visit (a full month after my second visit) when I finally received a bill in the mail for the second visit. The bill was for $182, which is 3x more than what was quoted over the phone before I made any appointments. The next month I got another bill in the mail, nearly the same thing. $141, not $55.58 as I was quoted.
I spent literally hours on the phone back and forth with the receptionist, billing, managers, and supervisors. Everyone kept saying they would look into it and call me back. It took them 2.5 months to finally get my case to the right person for review. They ultimately decided that it was my fault for the “miscommunication” about what I was being charged. The receptionist said she quoted me per “exercise” which they have multiple of per visit. This was in fact NOT explained to me, and I was told the amount after insurance was the amount I owed per visit. I am very unhappy about their inability to give an accurate cost estimate but also annoyed that I had to waste so much of my time to finally get through to the right person to ultimately tell me they’re going to charge me the same amount I was unjustly billed anyways. I highly suggest taking your business elsewhere.
Had surgery here. Service was quick, professional, and kind. Couldn't have asked for better service. They we're very accommodating by getting me warm blankets when I was freezing, using numbing in my hand before putting in the IV, which was a welcoming difference to prior surgeries, and more.
