This review is for the "Referral Center" and the patient portal. My doctor's office was always very timely with referrals but now they have to use this supposedly streamlined process which is evidently understaffed. They are constantly 4 to 7 days "behind." You are expected to be patient but if your referral is lost or not completed they tell you you should have called sooner. But if you call to check they get irritated because they are behind and want you to be patient. I am never really sure what to do when my doctor tells me if I haven't heard back by a certain time to tell her office but then the office staff just tells me I haven't waited long enough. I miss how things were before Duke stepped in. I get the wait if it's for a specialist referral, but for an abdominal ultrasound?
Also, your patient portal sucks. Why would I fill all that stuff out when the office staff apparently can't access any of it the day of my appointment and most of the stuff never "keeps"? Half the time I'm prompted to pay my copay and half the time I'm not. And it's started to send emails the day after an appointment telling me I owe the entire balance for my appointment even though insurance hasn't even had time to look at it.
I just got letter that glen r frye is not taking united health care anymore unless they reach an agreement by jan 2019. These people must not care about people and patients. My husband and i have doctors thru glen r frye. I have 3 different doctors offices through glen r frye including my pain doctor. This causes alot of stress on a patient to have to change that many doctors. Maybe there looking for more money. Ive always heard that they where at the point of going under. Maybe this is fate. Its time to move own. I guess we all need to go out of town for doctors. I was told by a doctor that just moved to charlotte that hickory was just a big black hole as far as good medical care. Im really starting to believe that.
I would like to take the time and say THANK YOU to all the absolute wonderful doctors and nurses at FRYE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER.
I am well aware of plenty of horror stories that have happened but my friends that is anywhere you go.
My Ninaw continuously bragged at how well she was treated and I witnessed the love and compassion first hand. From x-ray techs, lab workers, housekeeping, nurses, food service and doctors.
We honesty did not meet anyone that made us feel uncomfortable.
This type of care really helps ease the worrying family's while our loved one heals.
I'm currently sitting in a room for a possible broken ankle. 7:55pm July 5th, 2018. I just watched a couple leave a room after being treated, and not even 5 minutes later, another patient walk in to be treated..... NO ONE WENT IN AND CLEANED THE ROOM BETWEEN THE TWO PATIENTS!!!! What kind of hospital is this??? I'll definitely be going to Catawba Valley Medical Center from now on for any issues with myself or my family! I have never been so disgusted! I'll be contacting anyone and everyone to let this be known, room number and all!!!!
I would advise anyone and everyone to steer clear of this place. I was kept in the inpatient behavioral health building for almost two weeks without my consent. I repeatedly asked to be informed of what judge signed the order and the legal process involved in involuntary commitments, but got no answers. The place was filthy. There were ants all over my room, and black mold on the heat/air conditioning unit in the common area. Within a day or two of being admitted, I developed sores in my nose that would bleed when I blew my nose every day. Although I was never rowdy with anyone, I was on "unit restriction" almost the entire stay and was not allowed to leave the unit for meals or to go outside with the other patients. The reasons behind this were never explained. I also saw some alarming things concerning other patients where one patient yanked the chair out from under another patient, causing her to fall and hit her head. She was supposed to be transferred to a head injury unit, but that never happened. As if all this was not bad enough, upon receiving my belongings, I discovered that a pair of earrings, with substantial sentimental value was missing. I hope whoever took them got a lot of enjoyment from taking my things. Take my advice and avoid this place; better yet, I would avoid Hickory, NC altogether.
