Everyone from the Doctors to the nurses to the cafeteria workers treated my family with kindness and respect. They provided 1st rate care and worked diligently to ensure the comfort of my family member.
It is normal to experience frustration and anxiety especially when a loved one is in need of care. It is normal to feel that it takes forever to get help...Folks it is better here than almost anywhere else I have been
Emergency room visit - found them to be efficient and all staff extremely knowledgeable and polite. Emergency room visits are always a challenge and observation is some patients do not understand although they maybe in pain often there are more severe cases that may take priority. The emergency room was packed as well as rooms even with qualified efficient staff it may take anywhere from 4-7 hours depending on need for testing. I found them always attentive and the efficiency could not be matched. There were 2 trauma case that came during my time there which delayed the CT scan but the staff notified me of delays and kept me informed which was greatly appreciated. I could also hear that trauma case were coming in where needs trumped mine. I was kept comfortable through any delays. I have had 2 surgeries in prior years and always had excellent service and results. They have a new hospital in South Wilkes-Barre which may not have been as crowed, however I have not used them yet and if I do I hope to have the same experience as WY Valley😀👍Debi Schauss
I have an infected tooth and need to see an oral surgeon and they will not make an appointment without a referral faxed. I faxed it on a Thursday and called Wednesday because I never heard anything back. They "didn't get it and were behind on faxes" So I faxed it again 3 times Wednesday. I called monday and they still "didn't get it" So I faxed it 10 more times and called Wednesday and they STILL "didn't get it." Then the lady tells me they're into June appts for new patients. It's March 1st and I already can't eat so I'm supposed to wait 3 months before I can have it pulled? Not to mention wasting my time and money sending all these faxes. Ridiculous. I'll take my business elsewhere.
I cannot speak to the ER. However, the Vascular Group, and In particular, Dr. Obmann are fantastic! I went in with serious pain and issues with my toes. Within 30 minutes, I was being admitted to the hospital. I had severely blocked / compromised artery in my right leg. She thought that I may lose a toe or two, or portions of them. She performed surgery a day and half later. Everything went fantastic. She was extremely kind and professional. The nurses were all excellent during that stay and all follow up visits. Everyone I ran into in the various testing rooms kept telling "If you have to have this surgery, she is the one you want". I believe. I would definitely recommend the Vascular Group at GWV.
Used to be a wonderful facility but sadly not anymore. Wait times are much longer and visit with doctor more rushed. They won't give you pain meds unless your arm is hanging off. Their mantra is "take Tylenol". I think I will be looking for a new rheumatologist.
