Literally never have I seen such a disorganized, unprofessional hospital. They don't see you in a room, they treat you in the waiting room like an animal. Not once did I see an actual Doctor. Staff just walking around, running their mouths on their phones, doing nothing to help anyone. They asked about my pain level. It's a 6. Not so much as a Tylenol. Why ask if they don't care at all? If you want professional care, go elsewhere. If you are fine with being warehoused and treated like an animal however, this is the place for you! I honestly don't know how this place doesn't get sued for malpractice 10 times a day.
I was having severe pain in my kidney area and needed to go to the ER last night. New to Fort Myers, I looked at the reviews of Gulf Coast Medical Center and was very skeptical, but since they are in network on our insurance plan, I decided to go there. I am so glad I did. This is by far the best experience I have ever had in an ER. Even though there were plenty of patients, I waited less than 10 minutes to be seen by the first nurse who took my vitals and information. After that, I immediately started testing and had blood work done along with an IV. I have very small veins and drawing blood is usually very hard and putting an IV in is a nightmare - but not this time. The nurse was excellent and got it right away. Then I was given a pain medication and had a CT scan. They found the problem and set up medication for me and I was ready to leave after only being there less than 2 hours. I have sat in ER waiting rooms without even seeing a doctor for more than 2 hours. Not here! Yes, they have construction going on - that is how improvements get made, but the staff was excellent! I wish I could remember my nurses names because they were awesome! No one was being treated in the waiting room as some reviews said. We did have to go back and wait for the next step in the waiting room, but when it was time for treatment or consultation, they took me to a private room. Anyway, I will definitely go back to this hospital, if needed and I would recommend it to anyone.
You an call a nurse but don't need her within a 1/2 hour. I can't even find one in the hall. My husband has been laying in bed for 48 hours. No one moves him or let's him sit in a chair. Just leaves him laying there. The therapist comes for 10 minutes and walks him to the door and back two days ago. He was told he was being released. Got him already to go. Hour later they comeback. He's not leaving today. Wrong to do that to a stroke victim. Where's the care?
While everyone was helpful while I was in the Gulf Coast hospital, Jenny, my nurse, was extremely helpful and a kind soul.( I was in room 2461).She made sure the doctors were getting my test results and expedited my release!
Thank you to all who assisted me!
I feel great and hope to stay that way!
Got back from out of town with stomach pain, their sense of humor kept me distracted from the pain, was immediately admitted due to appendicitis and was treated that same day all of the staff were nice and professional, and funny too, the nurse staff was amazing and very attentive, thank you all for the treatment from the bottom of my heart. Ps almost beat the challenge from the doctor at the ED, only one shot of morphine, 😂
