I went to the emergency room last night close to 11:00 pm with a very bad sore throat that wouldn't go away for 6 days and recurring fever & now followed by a really bad earache. The wait was not long (of course it was late and there were not many people) and once I got registered, which consisted of giving my name and date of birth, my temperature was checked and I was taken to a room immediately. From that point, a team of nurses started to take care of me right away, non-stop. They each had different functions, which made the process very quick. The Dr. came to see me soon after and ordered a series of tests. The full patient registration was done once I was fully taken care of and we were just waiting for the test results. A pleasant man came with a portable computer and entered all my personal & insurance information. I was treated and out of there by 2:00 am, the pain in my ear considerably reduced, with a prescription for antibiotics & full discharge instructions in hand. I found the whole process extremely efficient & effective. And one felt that the patient's physical condition was top priority. Everyone was extremely friendly, caring & professional, from check in to check out; that's not an exaggeration. I think the service I received was outstanding.
ER Nurses, Doctors, ER techs, pharmacy techs, and other staffs in ER treated me with the at most compassionate manner I could have imagined. I had dizzy spell at work, and I could not pin point the rooting cause of the episode since I have been in my best/ normal health, never been sick before, drinking and eating well. Lying in the gurney all I could think about was my young family and what impact it could have on them if something serious such as heart disease end up being the cause of my problem. But, the ER team keep popping in and out despite their busy assignments checking if I need something and cracking jokes that destructed me from my despair. Having had experienced both side of the coin I would like to recognize the entire ER team of Henry mayo hospital for great work they do that at times goes unnoticed. Kodos to the team.
Terrence & Dr. Casey were very kind & professional. Dr. Casey was very straight to the point, not trying to tell me what I wanted to hear. I appreciate that in a doctor. Terrence kept my spirits up with her hospitality.

I went to the Emergency room for extreme back spasm and terrible pain. I was waiting in the hallway for a long time. A physician came up to me and told me that they cannot help me and there were no doctors at the hospital that can help. He offered me a prescription for Norco which I already had. He said to go home and change your lifestyle. He spent no more than one whole minute with me. There was no exam. I was shocked. I left and went straight to a different doctor in Valencia who gave me a complete exam and provided me with new meds and oral steroids. Wait for it... Henry Mayo billed me for $998.98!!!!!!! That's right. I disputed the charge in writing and I received a letter that said sorry that they won't make ANY adjustments to the bill. I was ENCOURAGED to call financial counseling to pay my bill. It is shocking. Please try and go somewhere else for your needs. They have a horrible standard of care.
