feedback about Hines Va Medical Center
I once thought Edward Hines took care of not only its veterans but also the people who worked to keep those Veterans as comfortable and as happy as possible. I once volunteered with the biomedical engineering team at the age of 12 back in 2009 every summer until the age of 18. There were a fantastic group, and I generally thought it was both a privilege and an honor to work with them.
But that all changed, as a family member of mine was practically thrown under the bus and given suspension because of a social worker who did not do their job when they were needed for another family member of mine who was a Vietnam veteran, and then said social worker worked hard to cover their mistakes made sure my family paid the price for calling them out. Also to blame are the administration who's in charge of the daily operations of taking care of the veterans and the doctors who worked with my family who did NOT stand up for them to prove their innocence.
Because of these recent events I have lost all my trust to Edward Hines VA Hospital. There are signs of corruption and too much politics within the inner workings. This is supposed to be a hospital meant to take care of our soldiers men and women no matter of ethnicity were part of the US military who came home scarred mentally damaged and wounded and bring them back so they could once again smile and breathe a sigh of relief that they're once again on their home soil. Instead I find a hospital overrun by politics, staff only to look out for themselves and not willing to stand up for others when they know when they're things that are wrong and must be called out, they only think to keep their heads down and think everything will be fine. How wrong they are...
I will never again trust this hospital and its administration. The VA was supposed to protect and serve and help its people Veterans as well as its own citizens and it failed spectacularly
After 6 days of "toughing it out," I decided to go to the ER here. The front desk staff kindly told me I had to register there (I thought my info would transfer between hospitals everywhere). The guy at the Admissions desk was super kind!
When I finally got called back in the ER, which wasn't a long wait thankfully, everyone was so nice and personable and I felt I was being listened to! I had only gotten the names of two of my caretakers - Dr. Cordero and Barb, my nurse.
This was my first ER experience and I'm so happy it was a great one, all things considered!
I'm very lucky unlike most people in our country with out any or useful health insurance. Thank you VA and Hines. God bless the United States. And our duly elected president Trump : )
From the receptionist at the emergency room to the nurses the xray Technician then the Dr and pharmacy it was all 5 star service. I'm from out of town, Albany NY area and was in severe pain from nerve damage and am feeling much better now. Thank You all.
This hospital has thoroughly evaluated my uncle, treated him with the utmost respect. He shunned going to the hospital but now he makes sure I take him to all his appointments. Wonderful, caring staff.
