I gave birth to my son this weekend at Holland Hospital and I was so happy with my experience. Every nurse and support staff I was in contact with were extremely kind and helpful. The new recovery rooms are beautiful. Thank you for a great experience!

The cafeteria is like a fast food restaurant. It is full of fried foods, sweet foods and drinks, sweet cakes and cookies, coffee cakes, etc. Breakfast offerings are fried eggs, two kinds of fried hash browns, bacon, and two kinds of pork sausage. It is surprising and disappointing because it is a hospital.

The communication between shifts was horrific. Most of the staff seemed unfamiliar with the screens on the computer to answer my questions of what antibiotics I was on and who ordered them. There were a few who worked at trying to find out. I heard a lot of "well, this is probably what happened" or "I'm sure that it's fine." or like I wasn't to bother to find out details. A test for c-diff was canceled by one hospitalist and then another who didn't know why it was cancelled reordered the test and I did have c-diff. I have found throughout my journey with the medical profession that so many serious mistakes are made I have no trust in it and my questions were important. And my business. One patrionizing hospitalist dismissed a question with "I'll let you two figure out the logistics--of who and why a certain antibiotic was ordered. HOSPITALISTS are a really really bad idea. One had absolutely no idea what was going on with me or any interest--I am absolutely frightened to go into the hospital--any hospital but I was stunned by this experience. The emergency doctor was absurd--he grilled me and would keep asking me if I was confused. I finally said ,"no, are you confused" My son in law does a great impression of that doctor being in my face. The report from the hospital says that I was confused. I was weak , dehydrated , urine infection from the c-diff and constant runs but I wasn't confused. I had fallen from my wheelchair leaning too far to reach something and couldn't use my newly amputated limb to catch myself and made the mistake of saying that i had fallen and one doctor wrote that I had probably fallen out of my wheelchair because I took xanax. The medical field isn't science or fact--it's more speculation and anything can be said because it is the MEDICAL field. No accountability. I did have a dear very young 'nurse'? that tried to retrieve information and was excited when she did and an exceptional aide. Hannah. very conscientious about checking me every two hours which was ordered. I couldn't tell if I had 'gone' in my diaper or not. I don't remember the young nurse's name The software of the computer needs to be changed or more training needed.

I had to put in one star forfnow other wise i could not post . I did not want to make any star review yet just give my thougjts after reading other reviews. So i must say these reviews are making me more nervous for my family member to arrive tomorrow for two heart test. How will we be treated ? This will be the first time at the Holland hospital . I will think postive that we will be treated with respect and professionalism so I can come back and write a five star review. Stay tune

The security guard dan in er has no clue what to do. Paperwork i had left didnt get to the right department. After multiple depts it was finally found after i myself had to call around looking for it. Not financial aid. Staff was rude in financial aid. Was told one thing and after doin so was told something else and didnt care to help. Like they could care less. Felt lied to and they never did there part of sending the paperwork in the mail after callin twice about it. Never got a call back which she said they did. All she said to do was call this other number. If thats how they treat people we will never ever support this hospital again. Very disappointed...no need to respond nothing will get done. Nothin they can do. And not even wanting to work on a payment plan nor take a settlement
