We have heard opinions pro and con about this hospital, BUT my Brother was rushed to the ER with severe respiratory isssues and sadly passed away. The ER staff was nothing but caring, compassionate professionals.the doctors, nurses and therapists tried valiantly to keep him alive but couldn't without putting him on a ventilator which he refused. The staff was a blessing to our family and comforted him the best they could.

On January 29,2019 I went to the ER department. I was more than two weeks into coughing to the point of loosing my breath completely. When I’d cough my bronchial tubes would spasm. Dr Peeples was the ER doctor that night and instead of doing blood work and testing he gave me two breathing treatments a steroid pack, an inhaler and sent me home telling me I was having asthma attacks. I kept getting worse because the meds were not working. One week later I went to the ER in Texarkana at St Michael’s. They did all the blood work, a CT scan and the results came back about a week later positive for Pertussis and Haemophilus Influenza. I was rushed back to Howard County hospital because of the seriousness of not able to breath. It was the closest ER to where I live. Once they got the test results from Texarkana (which my wife had to track down because the Er doctor was looking at the wrong dates) they transported me by ambulance back to Texarkana where I spent twelve days in isolation. I hope I don’t have use this hospital again.

We had taken my mother to several different ER's and Drs trying to find out why she was belching constantly for weeks. We had to go to the ER again with her on a weekend and since she had an appointment with a stomach Dr in Nashville we went to Howard memorial. After my husband managed to convince the receptionist that it was an emergency. The ER Dr was a very nice young man that found my mother's heart problems. I wish we would have started with them. Maybe ahe would still be with us.

**** This does NOT reflect in the care I received in the ER. It was great!*"* I went in on Sunday with irratic heartbeat. They did all the tests to make sure iwasI wahaving an MI. They all came out okay. They decided to send me home with a Holter monitor for 24 hours. Well they didn't have one. They were out with other patients.( I don't Know how many they have). Anyway they sent me home with discharge instructions to come when they called to say they had one. They called me in a couple of days and I came and presented to ER( per instructions). They sent me to Respiratory who sent me back to Registration. Even though I gave them the discharge sheet which said I was to follow up with the Holter monitor they said. They said this was not an order. I have now been in registration for 45 minutes......all this because they didn't have a monitor. I live 26 miles from here so it isn't like i can just run up here anytime. ***Being sent from one department to another is frustrating. Especially when you don't feel well. It's like the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing****
