feedback about Iowa City Va Medical Center
Just took my husband into the Emergency Room. I was rudely asked to wait in the waiting room because I had kids. Obviously it was an Emergency or we wouldn’t be in the EMERGENCY room. 2 boys who are worried about their father. There was one other person on the other end of the emergency room. The only person they were bothering was the nurse. Some people have kids. Not every veteran is an old person without small kids. I’m not saying they have to have a play ground but dang. My husband wanted his kids there. Now he has to sit here alone while he waits for them to even decide where to start with testing. I understand that it’s not ideal to bring children to the ER but sometimes you are given no choice and they weren’t bothering anybody.
Great fast service. easy system to use.
The staff here at the Iowa City VA are phenomenal. I had my Thyroid removed and all the Doctors involved talked to me and answered all my questions. My two nurses I had was Lauren and Max and both of them did a phenomenal job.
The people are knowledgable and compassionate. Better care than have had in a long time.
Father-in-law has been getting care here for decades. Recently, he was here for treatments and was diagnosed with lymphoma and given 3 months. That was 2 weeks ago. Family visited him on Sat. 4/14 on floor 7W as he was in hospice. The staff in 7W are absolutely wonderful. They attended to all needs compassionately(from housekeeping to Dr's). They communicated on a level that we understood, not technical and cold; or down to us, but in a way we were equals. We can never show enough appreciation for what they did for him. Richard Burton passed around 9 a.m. today Mon. 4/17, and the staff handled notification professionally.
