I would leave negative stars if I could. I made 2 DREADFUL trips to the JH ER. The first trip, I spent 14 hours in the waiting area with the homeless and drug addicts who use the place as a pit stop for the night, I was propositioned, offered money to sit on someone’s lap and cursed at. The “security” guards didn’t seem to be doing anything, in fact around 6 AM, one of them was asleep with his head on the front desk. After an agonizing and very long night, I was finally seen by a doctor. Most of the medical staff was okay, however, I found most of the doctors arrogant and dismissive. I was sent home with a diagnosis and continued to get sicker over the next 7 days. My PCP sent me back to the Bayview ER this time and he called ahead. Thankfully I was taken back almost immediately. I was again met with very arrogant doctors who stated I was not “sick enough” and I was not an emergency, I also felt belittled for “taking up space from someone who was REALLY sick.” I was discharged and given instructions to contact the surgeons the next day. I will NEVER go to any John Hopkins facility again. I was made to feel less than the homeless and drug addicts who I am sure they are not getting paid for. I do require surgery for my condition ASAP and am seeing a general surgeon in my community tomorrow. I don’t know how this AWFUL place has such a “wonderful” reputation!! I was treated terribly. I truly felt like I was in a third world country. SHAME ON THEM. They have forgotten the basic fundamentals of medicine and are completely ego driven. What a broken system.
