I usually go to ER KP in Oakland Ca but I refuse to. My reason is because the doctor's, nurses etc just try to get you in and out. I feel as though they do not care. Today I went to ER San Leandro Ca and hands down they took care of me. I really really appreciate it. I love going to San Leandro Ca KP. The doctor's, staff and nurses are amazing .thank you so much for all of your amazing help.

Huge medical facility. Appears to be very efficient. Large number of patients in waiting areas but they seem to handle them quickly. Very clean. Lots of parking.

This happened on 12/13/2018 at approximately 7:45pm.

I had to bring my mother to the ER due to chest pain. While we were waiting to be seen (initial test had been done), my mother needed to go to the restroom, badly, but she thought maybe they will ask me to pee inside, so if she pee’d at that point she wouldn’t be able to pee inside. I got up and attempted to speak to someone, otherwise accidents can happen. When I got to the front desk I was sent to the line, I told the gentlemen that I was sorry but my mother needed to pee but if they would ask her to pee inside she wouldn’t be able to. He rose up his voice, and told me I can’t be where he’s at in the front because there was another patient there and for his confidentiality I needed to go away. Of course I’m upset, and I storm off to sit down. I advise my mother to just go to the restroom because they were unwilling to help out. About 5 minutes later the nurse comes up and begins to lecture me, instead of being concerned for the patient. I tell her she’s in pain and needed to get an answer, and her reply was everyone is in pain. What kind of an unprofessional and inconsiderate reply is that?! luckily at that point my mothers name was called and we got up. Otherwise we would’ve continued to argue.

Everyone inside who’s running x-rays, drawing out blood, measuring her blood pressure etc... show how concerned they are and how they care about the patient. For that we’re extremely grateful, but guess what, in one of the tests she was asked to pee, and now couldn’t.

I understand how privacy is a big concern, but how a situation and patient is handled is also a big concern.

Nurses need to learn how to be emphatic and compassionate. I needed to go to the bathroom a few times and the security guard told the nurse who made me use a bottle. There is nothing wrong with having people use the restroom. Besides that when I asked where my food was the nurse was rude and thought I was seeing things and hearing voices when I never told her that and didnt have those symptoms. Sure there are good nurses here but the bad ones that do it for money instead of being compassionate and doing their jobs as a nurse to take care of patients either need to be retrained, laid off, or fired.

Clean, modern and well run hospital with dedicated staff. Also contains a large, diverse collection of works of art making it one of the larger collections of art in the East Bay.
