Don't go here if you can help it, let me start with how filthy it really is inside the rooms are dirty obviously a lack in cleaning staff! My mother contracted a blood infection from the dirty hospital and lack of care, Then let me go on about the ICU pretty much most all of the staff there sucks one of the last things my mother said was please don't leave me alone the nurses are mean and I get that their lack of caring was apparent and Patricia needs some manners also the house supervisor blond haired lady no one would give me her name in my mother's last few minutes on this earth she came in the icu and complained because my 11 year old girl was in the chapel I can tell you I will take my chances on the 30 minute ride to Delnor before I let these people care for me if I could give it no stars I would!
After receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis after 5:00 on a Friday night this supposed “caring” institution sent two members of their business office to inform my 95 year old grandmother (who is blind, extremely hard of hearing, disabled and now dying) that she was to be discharged the next day, not even giving the family time to arrange hospice or nursing care. We begged for one more day and they refused, despite having many open beds. For a family already reeling from a completely unforeseen diagnosis, this hospital delivered the final blow by showing no compassion or humanity. In her last days, Kishwaukee literally kicked her to the curb. I will never recommend any Northwestern facility. It is unfortunate that I can’t give a zero star rating!
If this hospital was the only one I had access to and I was at the brink of death, I would trust my own dog to save me more than the mongoloids that work here. Poor staff, lack of actually caring, and not to mention unbelievably rude considering they get to charge you an arm and a leg. One star is too many stars for a poor place like this
My son was admitted to the ER for Heart palpitation, elevated blood pressure, shortness of breath. He has a congenital heart defect . Up on admittance to ER he explained this to the nurse. He had an EKG and the ER doctor looked at it and said the EKG was abnormal. We tried to explain to the ER doctor that all of his EKG's are abnormal because of his heart defect. The doctor could not understand this . After some discussion it was decided that my son should be admitted to the hospital. I asked that we be transferred up to Rockford where his cardiologist is at. Because my son was stable at this time I asked that I would be able to transport him in the car. The doctor contacted Rockford came back and said it would be OK if I transported him in the car and that there was a bed waiting for him in Rockford. To make a long story short yesterday after waiting for hours we find out that the doctor in Rockford said it was unnecessary to admit my son to Rockford hospital that he could be seen in the office the following day. The doctor at Kishwaukee Did not follow the instructions of the cardiologist. He ignored him called the cardiology unit at mercy health and somehow was able to get him admitted. The Rockford cardiologist was upset to find that the Kishwaukee doctor ignored his decision. Not only did we waste A-day sitting in Rockford waiting for test that were never ordered or done because the cardiologist was unaware we were there, it is also an unnecessary expense of a hospital stay. There is no way I will understand why the ER doctor, Dr. Morris ignored the instructions of a cardiologist who has background on my son. When the bill start coming in I will be paying a visit to kishwaukee hospital. The only reason I gave this review one star is because the nurse, Lynette was wonderful
I give a one because there is no zero! My son was hit by a student at NIU crossing the street at school. They were more concerned about his insurance status than his health. Their finance department SUCKS and does not update information! It scares me that this is one of the only hospitals near campus!!!
Reply to Liz: funny but I did JUST that and they wanted to talk to my son-not me or his father - the one who carries the Insurance. We made 9 attempts to pay the bill and let our insurance go after the other Party and they don’t know how to take down the correct info. It’s turned into harassment of my son who has been through enough!!! Your HR department was just as horrible!
