Can I give zero stars? I waited six months before writing this review as I did not want to provide it in anger and frustration. After seeing my father's quick deterioration while in this hospital, and witnessing nursing staff blatantly ignoring doctor's orders on several occasions, I had him moved on a holiday weekend to the Orlando hospital where he quickly improved. My father told me he thought he was going to die at Lake Wales Medical Center and the care given in Orlando, and then Winter Haven made him realize how poorly he was treated in Lake Wales. There was also one surgeon that when I questioned him, he told me that he just "fired" one patient and was not afraid to do it a second time. Needless to say, I fired him first. Go to Winter Haven when necessary. They consider the elderly patients at Lake Wales to be "throw away" patients. Yes, that term was overheard.
Spent the day here with my grandma while she was admitted on the second floor. Her nurse, Elizabeth, and nursing assistant, Ciara, were so incredibly kind. I can't say enough good things about these two!
I waited in the OR family waiting room while my grandma had her procedure. The transport gentleman told the OR nurse I would be waiting during the procedure, which he didn't have to do. The OR nurse took the time to come out, sit with me, explain why the procedure was taking longer than expected, and said he would be back once she was all done.
All of the staff really went above and beyond to keep me informed but most importantly they treated my grandma like gold!
The nurse down in the E.R. on Tuesday August 29th was great. Her name was DAWN. She was very helpful. Very quick on everything. She is a great nurse. Thank you DAWN. I was in with my blind friend Tim. Hats off to DAWN.
Dr.Martinez did excellent surgery on my dad, but spent almost 2 years trying to heal his wounds on his feet from him staying in bed at hospital. And the MRSA he acquired from the Baer Hugger mattress used during surgery.
I had an exceptional experience with my visit to Lake Wales. Nurse Jullett was an expert at her job- she came to my room quite often to check on me and see how I was doing. Nurse Jullett also made me feel comfortable assuring me that everything would be okay.
