Our mother was very sick yesterday evening and we had to have an ambulance get her to take her to the hospital. After running tests, 4 doctors came into her room and told her she had an intestinal blockage and needed surgery. She let us know and my sister who lives in Erie argued with me about not having the surgery done in Meadville and that we needed to take her up to the Cleveland Clinic. I relented and my sisters came to get my mother and took her to the Cleveland clinic. Today she was released. No surgery. She had gas and probably a mild bug. I'd really like to know what the hell is going on at the Meadville hospital? We are all very upset that Meadville Hospital was going to perform a major surgery on our 76 year old mother when it wasn't needed at all. I'd really like to know who we could contact so they could do a review of this hospital and it's doctors?

Please don't go there , 4 people to insert an IV . Surgical unit is incompetent , 20 min . Operation took 2hours , Horrendous pain and No aftercare whatsoever , basically they rented me a Room.
Nurse staff was young Women with excessive makeup and perfume who generally Socialized at the nurses station . No ice packs , no pillow for wound , pain meds only when reminded of . No offers of food or drink , water ,blankets nothing !
The Sugeon had Zero affect , no concern , no detail of operation given and no aftercare or follow up phone call ! A BIG NO FOR ME !

Terrible and dangerous hospital. My son was in for 6 days and over the 6 days they up his iv instead of meds by mistake, downed meds because of a pharmacy misfill label, dr says not to take a certain OTC med and discharge papers says that he needs to take it plus a med that he was never on his whole stay or after. It also takes several minutes for nurses to respond to the call button or the iv machine. I wouldn't ever go there again! I wouldn't take a sick dog there. I am also reporting them, to have this many mistakes on 1 person's stay makes me wonder how many people have died over their negligence.

Can't rate zero unfortunately :(
I had a slice of about 1/4 of my finger missing and I bled on the emergency room waiting floor, waited an hour and a half to be admitted. I believe I was only admitted because I told them to write me off because I was going to leave on the hour, ten minutes from then because I have cauterized and stitched my own wounds before. Even more fun, I had to remind the staff that I got an X-Ray to see if I hit the bone and they knew nothing about it, they went to get those records. Upon stitching I got lidocaine and the nurse missed the wound, I watched it squirt out of the open wound on the other side but I cared not because I wished to leave (I have a witness to this event). I took three stitches because I rejected the fourth and it took more that 30 minutes. I then sat in the small hole in the wall, watched six nurses, two janitors, a surgeon, and some administrators (assuming their rank/job title) walk by without noticing I was standing in the hall outside of that hole. Took my own stitches out 2 days later because I was not dealing with their lack of skill in doing so and them charging way to much, thank you UPMC for taking over an already crappy hospital to charge more because you need to line your pockets more and even screw doctors out of pay. I will not return, even for a broken bone again. I will walk to Erie/Pittsburgh on a snapped femur instead of dealing with their lack of skill and poor excuse for treatment.
