feedback about Medstar Southern Maryland Hospital Center
Worked in the ER here back before medstar took over... It's a great hospital, staff are great for the most part..... If you don't like the wait time, get angry and walk out, well maybe you weren't that sick to begin with... Having a great attitude is worth gold here.... If you come into the ER, cussing and acting like the world revolves around you, you're gonna have a bad time... Even after my employment here ended, they treated me wonderfully as a patient
This hospital is absolutely deplorable. I am convinced that any positive reviews for this hospital are either employees or family of employees. My loved on went in for a minor concern and things snow balled horribly after lack of proper care. If you can manage to get to a better hospital, this one is not worth your life!
The wait was overbearing. I waited from 730pm to 1130pm after being referred their for another medical institute for a CT scan. There is no emergency at least not who facilitates the public. Your only accomodated if you arrive by ambulance. I didn't act a fool just asked questions and took my referral to GW hospital and it was done in 2 hours or less. If your prepared to die then this is the correct waiting time, ridiculous.
This hospital is horrible. Don't know if it is by design because of the geographical location. Urgent Care Centers provide better service than this hospital. Fortunately for me I have 3 health insurances. I have informed my family unless it is absolutely necessay DO NOT TAKE ME EVER AGAIN TO MEDSTAR SOUTHERN MARYLAND HOSPITAL. THIS REVIEW IS ALL ABOUT THE DOCTORS THEY HAVE ON STAFF. DID not ask for any previous medical conditions or current medications that I was taking on. Dr. Burrows, the RN and LPN on my visit to the ER gave me the impression that they were allegric to me as an African American patient. I thought under MedStar they would have proceeded the name of the hospital of the hospital that kill folks.
I've had back surgery preformed at this hospital and been to it's emergency intake
3 times. I had no problems with any of the
doctors there. People need to remember that this hospital has hundreds of patients a
day. If you're there alone, you have to be
your own advocate. If you have family members or friends who can be your advocate that's even better. But, please
learn to be polite but firm. Don't go in there
using profanity, that's gets you no where.
And while you are there, just remember you're not the only patient there. And that
doctors and nurses are human too.
I always got better care, because I behaved
with politeness and civility.
