My wife was given an appointment for a sonogram, and ended up having to wait an hour after the appointment time to finally be seen.
The sonogram ended up costing $980, which seemed ridiculous since we just paid $240 for one with one of the doctors that works with Mercy.
We can't afford insurance so we were told that we could apply to charity to reduce the bill. Even though we met the criteria, we were denied because she doesn't have insurance.. So we were told that we would receive a uninsured discount which is listed on there website as a 35% discount. We were denied this as well and finally told they would just accept payments.
Update: We have been talking with the financial office about working out something with our bill, my wife now has to have surgery. We were literally told that because we cannot afford insurance that we are not trying hard enough and therefore won't receive any discount or financial assistance.
I work full-time often over 50 hours a week and do side jobs when I can, I try, if I could afford insurance I would have it for us.
