They lied about pricing up front then when the bill was much higher, they calmly explained the price they told us didn't include this, this, and that. In any other industry an estimate is for the whole service! Healthcare is such a scam, how do you get them to nail down a price they are obligated to?

My wife was given an appointment for a sonogram, and ended up having to wait an hour after the appointment time to finally be seen.

The sonogram ended up costing $980, which seemed ridiculous since we just paid $240 for one with one of the doctors that works with Mercy.

We can't afford insurance so we were told that we could apply to charity to reduce the bill. Even though we met the criteria, we were denied because she doesn't have insurance.. So we were told that we would receive a uninsured discount which is listed on there website as a 35% discount. We were denied this as well and finally told they would just accept payments.

Update: We have been talking with the financial office about working out something with our bill, my wife now has to have surgery. We were literally told that because we cannot afford insurance that we are not trying hard enough and therefore won't receive any discount or financial assistance.

I work full-time often over 50 hours a week and do side jobs when I can, I try, if I could afford insurance I would have it for us.

This was THE WORST excuse for medical care that Ive EVER seen or heard about! I was transported via AMBULANCE and waited 25 to 30 mins to be triaged. I had shortness of breath severe abdominal pain as well as pain about where my left kidney would be. I reported that when last I checked my blood sugar level was above 320 and was told to.have a seat in the waiting room!!! I would recommend "Cooters home medical care" before Mercy hospital!!

I swallowed my pride today and told a friend I needed to go to the ER (I dont like to cry in front of other people) because I was in serious pain of my chest, back, shoulder and arm. I was rushed back and treated very well by the nursing staff. It was the doctor who was belittling. He was acting like I was "drug seeking". After blood work and after X Rays of showing nothing, he came in looking at me like I was crazy because I was squirming on the table in pain, saying, "Mam, now nothing is showing up on the X Rays, what's wrong with you?". I asked, "You tell me!". Knowing the Toridol didn't kill the pain, that what he was going to send me home with. I told him, "Not Toradol!". He says, "I cannot give you a Narcotic!". I asked for Ibuprofen.
