feedback about Mercy Hospital Carthage
I don't know whether it is short staffing or simply poor leadership, but found the service here to be less than professional, especially in the evenings at the emergency room. There could be a lot of improvement made IMO. In my particular instance, we had to be picked up again by ambulance from this hospital and go to Freeman West in Joplin in order to get a proper diagnosis and treatment. Those minutes cost my parent dearly in the amount of damage and time for recovery.
Went to have my daughter's foot looked at The ER Doctor was for short and quip. The hospital staff as a whole seemed great but that Doctor makes me never want to go back.
I had exceptional care today at Mercy Carthage. My nurse, Larry, was absolutely the best and Dr. Featherly took care of my issues. My family was out and not available and they continued to give me meds I needed and checked on me frequently. I felt safe and secure In knowing I was being treated by such great professional individuals. Larry definitely deserves the Daisy award and If there was a such thing for the Docs-Featherly should have one too. The lady that came and got me for a cat scan made sure I was comfortable before she left. She even went and brought me a warm blanket! Thank you Mercy Carthage for the great care your staff provides.
I recently had to visit Carthage E.R. I had Dr. Featherly. He saw me in 2015 when i was in horrible pain and had neuropathy in my hands. He said i would be disabled in a little while and told me why. Degenerative disc disorder. I thought no way! Not me.
Wow. Was i wrong.
I started dropping my painting tools for no reason. My hands didnt work right. The pain was so bad i slept all day. It caused anxiety that felt like i was having a heart attack all day.
No other doctors has been so insightful and correct. I mean spot on. He should be the Dean of Medicine somewhere!
When you go through what i have you begin to doubt and think you can do things you shouldn't or that its in your head. After tearing my meniscus and other injuries. I know i shouldve trusted Dr. Featherly sooner.
The "Morality" crisis not opioid crisis has left me tortured. If people had morals they wouldn't abuse drugs and leave the rest of us in the wake of despair for them and because of them. I feel for the loss of lives and lives that have to be lived without someone. My 2 cents.
It is a great small hospital with access to bigger hospitals if needed. Small town feel and hospitality.
