The emergency department is disgustingly bad. A patient left against medical advice because no one examined her in nearly 2 hours. No one was helping a nurse who was yelling for assistance. I had to go into the room to pull one out to find them all having a chat and even then I had to repeat that a nurse was calling for assistance 3 times before someone started moving. The staff was clearly unhappy. One was complaining that they were called in for a Code Purple for a patient who was waiting for 40 minutes (Code Purple is a backed up emergency department). My wife was not checked in on in over 2 hours after giving her medication and she said she was feeling better about 20-30 minutes after receiving said medication. It's no wonder the Code Purple staff was complaining about the emergency department.
Listening to the staff talk to other patients they were definitely rude. I wouldn't go back to Nyack Hospital if it were next door and I were dying. If I were dying in the hospital I'd still want to be transported out.
Whenever going to the hospital, I expect it to be a nerve racking experience. What I do not expect is to be treated like garbage from the moment I walk into the building. I had the misfortune of going to the ER with a family member, this past weekend. After walking through the pitch black parking lot, filled with potholes, we encountered the ER receptionist. She was possibly the most unpleasant, unhelpful woman I’ve ever met. I tried to get her name; but in between her disappearing for the majority of the time, and sleeping with her arms crossed over chest for the remainder, it was difficult. I’m sure that working over nights in an ER is a tough and thankless job; but if you can’t handle it....get a different job. The rudeness extended to almost every other hospital worker we saw that night. I will say, the security guard was great. He was friendly, helpful and polite. I hope to never step foot in this place again and I would urge you to find a different hospital, if given the choice.
This review is for SICU Nurse, Bibby. She is very kind and caring to my Brother Joe who is the Patient and myself. She makes sure He is well taken care of and comfortable. A Great Asset to this Hospital. Also The Emergency Room Dr.s and. Nurses took care of him quickly. The Surgeon and Anesthesiologists were terrific.

The place is dirty. The doctors seem uninterested and arrogant. Feels like the attitude is that they are trying to get you in and out as fast as possible with no concern for your overall well being.
Seems like I will get a generic response like others who commented. It will tell me that they are sorry that I ha a negative experience and to call the patient relations department.
Montifiore, this feedback is consistent. Your silence is palpable to all the patients below. Let’s get a real response and hear about how you are going to clean this up.
When we are at are lowest we don’t want to be treated like a nuisuiance and then charged thousands of dollars.
I’ve been to this ER several times in my 20 years living in the area. It is noticeably worse than ever!
My brother had to go through an orthopedic surgery yesterday at Nyack Hospital. The surgery was scheduled 4pm. In reality it started at 8pm as the hospital didn’t have an operating room available.
He had to fast (avoid eating) a night before and the waiting was quite challenging. It won’t be a problem elsewhere, but he was so disappointed by a rudeness of the stuff and terrible inefficiency in managing the crowds and facilities.
He was left to wait without any attention until he inquired when things will start moving.
The good thing is that an operating doctor was fantastic, nice and professional.
After the surgery, all the personnel was gone so it was no real recovery. My brother was discharged the same night.
My brother himself volunteers as an Emergency Technician and unfortunately this hospital has a very negative reputation and a lot of one star reviews.
Hope that the recent acquisition will make things better, yet it’s impossible unless the personnel changes the attitude.
